Here it is folks, they are full...again. VCA is an open admission shelter and they only have room for a certain amount of dogs. If more dogs are brought in or surrendered they are required to make space. Our goal was to make shelters like this one no kill. We did this by transporting their animals to Colorado Springs, CO. Colorado Springs is a perfect community to find homes for these fur friends because of its high resident rotation.

They are full again, please consider sponsoring an adoption. These animals deserve homes...

They are full again...please support these folks, like their page, share their posts. Encourage others to adopt from this shelter. They are in desperate need of help, if anyone knows how to set up a foster program for them...

This...it was one of our goals to help make shelters like this one no kill. With the support of our Rescue Hero's we were making it happen. In 2020 we saved the lives of nearly 1500 animals. It can be done!!! Colorado Springs is the perfect city for rescue because of it's rotating population of potential adopters, access to low cost spay and neuter clinics and care and, animal friendly amenities. THANK YOU for sticking with us as we fight the legal battle for their right to a fighting chance! Please continue to support us with your prayers, kind words and donations. We still need support NewHopeRescueInc.com
Just a reminder: When you volunteer for an animal shelter, you are either there to help the overall situation or you are not. It doesn’t take long for your actions to show if you are not in it to help. It is black and white. There is no gray area. You don’t start drama and blame shelter employees for decisions they have to make.
We have some really awesome volunteers that do so much for our shelter animals but every once in a while, we will get one that thinks they are better than everyone else and has all the answers after the first couple weeks of being there. I truly wish things were as easy as some people make it seem but when 150 animals come in to an open admission animal shelter each week, unfortunately after exhausting all other options, there will be some that get euthanized for space at times. It’s not ok to assume things and then talk down to the other volunteers or employees because you are ignorant about a situation. It would greatly benefit everyone involved to simply ask a question rather than bashing people, especially when the person you bash on Facebook literally isn’t even the one that made the decision in the first place.
Part of a conversation I had a couple days ago with a friend and local animal advocate regarding when we do have to euthanize for space.
FRIEND: I think it would be so hard for the volunteer when they form an attachment and then they (the dogs) are gone...
ME: I completely agree. Try 15 years of working toward euthanasia being something we never have to do and then STILL having to do it sometimes. As a volunteer or employee, you are either there to make it better or you are not. There is no grey area. It is black and white.
We still have days we wish things wouldn’t have had to happen the way they did but we are grateful to have an awesome shelter Director that spends his days doing everything possible to make it a better place and great Kennel Techs,ACO’s and office staff that go above and beyond to give VC animals the best chance possible at the life they deserve. Most of you really have no idea what the shelter here in VC was like 15 or 20 years ago. A few of us that are still involved after all these years have memories of what it was like, we remember the nights we have gone home and cried ourselves to sleep over a situation that we couldn’t change the outcome of, the nights we stayed up until 2 or 3am coordinating transports or going to sleep with that awful feeling knowing animals will die in the morning simply because they were guilty of taking up a kennel, the kennel that another dog coming in needs to use for three days until it’s their turn.
Open admission shelters aren’t allowed to turn animals away, regardless of the outcome. We don’t have the luxury of picking and choosing the ones we know we can find homes for. We take what we get and do everything in our power to make sure they get out the front door alive and not out the back door in a bag. Things won’t change until more people believe in getting their animals spayed and neutered, become responsible enough to find appropriate accommodations for their animals and use shelters like ours as their last option, not first because it’s the easy way out. Of course, we aren’t saying to abandon your dog or cat out in the middle of nowhere. We know there are legit reasons at times animals have to be surrendered or brought into open admission shelters, but not 150 of them per week.
Until you are the one that has to look into the eyes of a beautiful, healthy animal and then put them on a euthanasia list for space or actually be the one to euthanize them, you will never truly understand what shelter employees across the country deal with because of irresponsible, selfish people that don’t see the value of an animal’s life and discard them like trash.
With that being said, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart to those of you that have supported us over the years and work hard to help us make Valencia County a better place for the animals that come through our shelter ❤️
ADOPTED 5/20!! NOTE: The sweet old girl in the picture is still available for adoption as of 5pm 5/18/22. Her name is Girly. She was abandon by her owner. The landlord signed her over to us. Approximately 12-13 years old. $75 to adopt. Loves attention. She always looks like she’s smiling.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!
New Hope Rescue would like to thank all our loyal Rescue Heroes for their love and support during the current trial. Our mission is to help abused and abandon animals find their forever families. The past year has been difficult for us, the outpouring of support we have received, from our social media family, has humbled us. Our Director, Joann Roof would like to extend her heart felt appreciation for all of those who have reached out to her in kindness. We are happy to report that the first set animal cruelty charges have returned a verdict of not guilty. Unfortunately, we have another trial ahead of us. Please keep us in your prayers!!! Thank you for your open hearts and minds. We still need your help! Donations to help with our legal expenses can be made through gofundme at our NewHopeRescueInc.com website.

It's Fur-Baby Friday!!! Let's see those happy fur kids!!

01/24/2022
FYI: The next 4-6 weeks is mating season for coyotes. Please do not let your dogs out alone. The coyote gets your dog to chase him and then somewhere in the distance the pack waits for your dog. Then the outcome is tragic as they can & will attack/kill your pets. Just be aware it can happen to your beloved pet.
{Coyote breeding typically peaks in late February and early March, the gestation period averages 58 to 63 days. Male coyotes can become more aggressive during this time of year, the long and short of it all is that coyotes always pose a risk to your dog (and other small pets). That risk increases during mating season.}
BEWARE.

Hi everyone, Id like for you all to meet Tinkerbell. Tinkerbell is a beautiful 4 and a half year old love bug, whose full of sassy energy! I love working with her because she's super smart, and always ready to play. The amount of personality this dog has is unbelievable! She does best with dogs her size or larger, and doesn't seem to mind cats. She also loves anyone who gives her attention! The best thing about Tinkerbell is her smile. For a dog who has spend most of her life in a shelter (almost 4 years) she is surprisingly very friendly and loving! This precious girl keeps me on my toes, and is a constant inspiration to never give up! If you're looking for a furever friend, and are ready to fall in love, come meet Tinkerbell!
(This is Blu, a gorgeous catahoula mix!)
Thanks new hope rescue!
