It's National Pet Fire Safety Day and we would like to share some helpful tips from the American Red Cross about how to protect your pet! You can read the whole article here: https://tinyurl.com/tmdkaad3.

Fire and Injury Prevention
✅ Keep your pets away from open flames. They may singe their fur or worse!
✅ Do not leave candles or other sources of fire out where pets (cats especially) can knock them over. Remember, a happy puppy tail can knock a candle over, too! LED candles offer a pretty and safer alternative.
✅ Remove stove k***s to prevent the oven from being turned on accidentally. This is particularly important with gas stoves. If you don't do it daily, at least do it while you are on vacation.

In the event of a fire ...
✅ Purchase a window cling that states the number of pets in your home. Some pre-made clings allow you to list the type of animal. Keep it updated.
✅ When not at home, keep pets in an area close to the door and close off spaces where they can be too difficult to find.
✅ Create a wildfire exit plan to help you gather pets and leave quickly if you life in an area with high fire danger.

🇺🇸 Independence Day Tips for Pets 🇺🇸

- Leave your pets at home, secured safely indoors. Lots of pets get lost on Independence Day.
- Ask your vet about options for helping your pet, especially if they are extremely stressed by fireworks.
- Create a safe place where your pet can “hide.” Some pets like the bathroom. Others feel better in their own crate.
- Turn on soothing music to help minimize the sound.
- Keep windows closed. This one is hard when it’s hot, but it can help muffle the sounds during the peak hours.
- Ensure your pet is secured while walking this time of year. Tighten collars (but not too much) and hold that leash! Fireworks season seems to go all day and night sometimes so be prepared.

With a few simple steps, you can help your pet get through this holiday. Just remember, keep them home, keep them safe! Happy 4th!

Farewell Spring and hello Summer! 🌻 We sure do love these longer, warmer days - more time in the sunshine and more time with our pets! Here are a few quick summer pet tips:

🐾 Be sure to keep those water bowls filled and thermostats set at a comfortable level to keep them cool and hydrated all day long.
🐾 Check sidewalk temperatures before walking your dog. If it's too hot for your hands, it's too hot for their paws.
🐾 Brush your pets regularly to help them remove lingering winter fur and help them stay cool.
🐾 Consider adding a small, shallow kiddie pool outside for your dog.
🐾 Treats like toys stuffed with frozen peanut butter can be a nice, entertaining way to help your dog beat the heat.
🐾 Make sure your yard has adequate shade for your pets to escape the sun.
