Tip of the Wednesday for ya!

Let’s talk b***y cheeks 🍑

One thing I’ve noticed is that a lot of groomers (myself included when I was newer) get nervous about taking too much hair off. But a round, full rear usually doesn’t come from leaving more coat- it comes from shaping and knowing where to remove extra bulk. Don’t be afraid to take length off.

For me, I like to start lower and from the sides, then work my way up and around to build shape. Taking bulk out in the right places is actually what allows the fullness to stand out and gives the dog a more balanced outline.

And, don’t forget to clean up those hocks! We like tidy hocks!

✂️ I also love using chunkers for this because they allow me to remove weight while keeping everything looking soft and natural. And don’t underestimate the importance of a good comb- a comb that can separate and lift makes all the difference!

Now my client is clean and cheeked up, ready for summer ☀️

Grooming is weird. We spend a lot of time thinking about dog b***y cheeks. 😂

Just playing with some different techniques to elevate short trims ✂️🐾

Lately I’ve been leaving a little more fullness through the front of the front legs instead of taking everything super tight. I feel like it gives short trims a softer, more cohesive finish instead of that “skinny leg” look.

Do you guys notice a difference, or am I just groom-nerding out over here? 😂
