Animal Training is not linear. We work multiple spectrums. Our puppy classes and basic manners are fun, exciting, with games and movement!
We also work with rehabilitation cases, aggression cases, severe fearful cases. Those sessions look very different. We still use force free positive reinforcement approach but instead of being exciting and animated we are often just.... present.
For weeks we've been working with snow who is an extreme fear case. She was in the beginning just frozen in fear. She wouldn't eat, potty, or make a noise. With lots of work she's playing in the yard with other dogs, eating well and is going potty very well. She still has a way to go but is continuing to make progress. Tonight I spent time sitting in the yard while her friends got so much lovins. Snow walked around watching all her dog friends come be excited about belly scratches with me. I never looked at her or spoke to her. I loved on Dakota and Echo, who absolutely loved this exercise. Eventually miss snow came up behind me and smelled my hair. 🥰 I didn't acknowledge it. Now she's learning that she can approach me and there's ZERO expectations. Rehabilitation often looks like just being there.
