🚨 I am currently “out of office” until Friday 8/22 for one last summer trip with the family before school begins!

I will be taking some time here and there to continue to go through my inquiries from over the summer to hopefully be able to welcome in as many new friends as I can this fall! So thanks to those who have remained patient with the onboarding process!

If you do reach out in regards to requesting an appointment, please allow me some time to respond when I am able to, as I fully expect my children to be keeping me VERY busy!

Recently, one of my clients emotionally asked me if I knew anyone who may be interested in adopting her 12 yr old Beagle boy, Finn. Life circumstances had drastically changed for his family, and by no fault of his, Finn has no choice but to find a new home to live his senior years with.

I can attest that Finn is one of a kind and is an incredible dog. I’ve been working with him for a few years now, and aside from the fact that he is such a gentleman for his nail care, he is poised, happy, absolutely lovable, and quite honestly one of the sweetest little guys! In the back of my mind, I am triggered as in I want to scoop him up, but the reality is there is someone so much more deserving of him.

Finn is currently located in Barkhamstead, but his adoption will be advocated for through The Beagle Freedom Project.

Please share if you or someone you know would be interested in sweet Finn!

And if he ends up staying local within the Farmington Valley, I would absolutely be honored to whoever his adoptive family becomes, to continue his nail care at home !!

Spotlight tonight goes to little Coco bean..!! 🫘

I have worked with Coco’s bigger sister, Quinn, for a couple yrs now. I remember when Coco came into the home as a new member, a little puppy, and we introduced her to nails as quickly as we could. But unfortunately within a couple weeks of being home, she jumped, and broke her little tiny arm, which required casting, bandage changes, and xrays, way more often than a puppy should ever have to endure. The painful break while being in her prime social period unfortunately set her up to loathhhe being handled, restrained, and of course, have her legs and paws be manipulated. Eventually it earned her to be medicated for her veterinarian visits due to the stress and anxiety, and we haven’t quite been able to earn back that trust with the nail trim process, despite also being on her medications.

But there’s always a way.

Tonight, Coco showed me her new scratch board that I urged her family to try, because it is a no stress approach for those dogs who are in complete refusal otherwise. We thoroughly went over the steps on how to introduce it, and it is incredibly promising for her!!

A scratch board is essentially a rough grit surface in which the dog learns that scratching it dispenses a treat. It should only take a few sessions to teach, and it naturally files down the nails from their scratching behavior.

Always rooting for you little Coco and I can’t wait to see your progress in a few weeks!!!

This little sweetie is Brooke, and she is one of my darling little senior pugs who I have the pleasure of working with! Every 2 weeks, she gracefully sits on my lap and allows me to dremmel her nails down to keep them tidy. Pugs as well as some other breeds have the tendency to grow their nails curled in vs outward, which can cause unwanted ingrown nails and painful paw pads.

Forever on a mission to keep our pug feet happy! 😊 🐾

A testament to what teamwork can do to accomplish a task! 💥

This is Tahj. A little over a month ago, I posted about her nails that we could not accomplish due to her hypersensitivity with how long her paws could be held for. Although extremely friendly, we decided to call off the trim because I didn’t want her to associate me pushing her too thin. The second I would get a hold of her paw, she would twist it away and you could see her confusion and frustration build. It is imperative that we build a trusting relationship and the last thing I am going to do is forcefully hold your dog’s paw.

I gave homework to her mama.. to practice paw handling, continuing to up the expectation of how long her paws could be handled for while getting heavily reinforced for doing so.

Today we met back up - and wow wow wow. Efforts had been made. The proof is the fact that we successfully trimmed all 4 paws without any adverse behavior. Her command is “hold it”. Look at that proud smile! 

This is something I simply cannot teach your dog. But you hold that power. A few minutes every day is the difference between a traumatic experience or a successful experience with a positive outcome.

This sweet darling is Maggie, who celebrates her 18th Birthday today! Yes, you read that right!! Maggie has been in her family for 18 years, so as you can imagine, this is such a significant & absolute amazing milestone thats worth celebrating before the night gets away!!!

Maggie is very mobile, happy, healthy & friendly, so how honored do I feel to give her a special birthday pawdicure today?!

What an absolute pleasure it was to meet these precious babies!! 🥹 My fur friend, Elsa, became a first time mommy, and her five babies are just under 2 weeks old!

Elsa’s mama runs a beautiful breeding program to preserve and pass on the beautiful breed of the Icelandic Sheepdogs. They are such a pure, joyful, smart, and loyal breed of dog, and I am feeling overjoyed for these littles to be raised in such a wonderful environment.

We clipped those teeny tiny sharp nails, and had LOTS of snuggles and eyes of admiration. Great job, mama Elsa! 🐾🐾 Thank you for sharing your babies with me!!

Everyone, I’d like to introduce you to this beautiful face that belongs to my friend, Zelda! You may be thinking immediately that this pup means business, however, what she displays is what we call a submissive grin!

Not all dogs do this, and it can be alarming when you come across a dog that does if you are unsure of what you are looking at! But rest assured, these grins are one of the most physical ways a dog shows their friendliness and offer their friendship!

A submissive grin is to communicate deference and appeasement, and signal that they are of no threat, are friendly, and seeking a positive interaction! Zelda is beyond friendly as is as good as they get for her nail care. When I came over tonight I immediately snapped a few shots for you all to giggle over , as once the excitement of my arrival was over, so was her beautiful smile😆

What do I do at 6A on wakeup? Here’s a little bit of behind the scenes of my job beyond the physical nail trims! 🚙💨⛽️ 🗺️ 📍

I always anticipate upcoming work routes and try to plan ahead, based on my client’s regular rotations… but during a vacation week when I only have 1 day available is a whole different animal! 🤪😵‍💫Whether these anticipated days and times work for my clients, however, is another thing😅

My calendar book is always filled with these little sticky notes, to give me a head start before I even come to your home. I spend a fair amount of time mapping and routing, so my drives every day make sense to prevent me from zigzagging around, and make the most of my time. I color code my stickies by town, and arrange them by location and time. However, in the end, the final schedule may look COMPLETELY different 😆

I service 7 towns on the regular, with a few occasional surrounding towns outside of my regular service area. Here’s to a busy summer!!
