Lincoln, a 13-week-old English bulldog, stopped by for a same-day visit while out running errands with Mom! Snuggles and vet care can totally be on the to-do list. ✅

Zeke, Biscuit, and Sweet Pea got a taste of something not so tasty, but hey, it keeps them safe! While it might not be the most delicious treat, the oral Bordetella vaccine helps protect against Bordetella bronchiseptica, one of the main culprits behind kennel cough. Even better it is needle free so a win-win for a canine companions!

Meet Skittles and Ruby, an adorable sibling duo who came in recently for their very first puppy visit! At just 8 weeks old, these two are already winning hearts and showing off their favorite hobby: napping side-by-side after a big adventure. 🥹 ❤️

During today’s appointment, they received:
✔️ Their first distemper/parvo (DAPP) vaccine
✔️ Their first round of round of dewormer to keep them healthy from the inside out

These early visits are more than just vaccines. They’re the foundation of lifelong wellness. Puppy appointments help us track growth, provide parasite prevention, and build positive experiences for our newest patients.

Molly came in for her laser therapy session with Dr. Perkins and assistant Sheila, and as you can see, she’s in great hands!

Happy Fourth of July from AVMC! While we celebrate with fireworks and fun, the Fourth of July can be stressful and even dangerous for our furry friends.

Here are a few ways to help keep your pets safe:

🔒 Keep pets indoors: Fireworks can trigger fear and escape attempts. Set up a safe, quiet space inside your home.

🎧 Muffle the noise: Use calming music, fans, or TV to mask outside sounds.

🆔 Secure ID tags and update microchip registration: Make sure your pet can be easily identified should they get out of the house or leave your outdoor event.

💊 Ask us about anxiety support: For nervous pets, calming options are available.

🔥 Keep pets away from grills and fire pits: Hot surfaces and flames are hazards.

🍗 BBQ Food Safety for Pets:
🚫 No bones- Cooked bones can splinter and cause serious injury.
🚫 No fatty scraps- Too much fat can lead to pancreatitis.
🚫 No onions, garlic, grapes, or alcohol- These are toxic to pets.
✅ Offer pet-safe treats instead: Frozen peanut butter, carrots, or vet-approved chews.

Tank stopped by the clinic for a nail trim and his Leptospirosis booster. At 198 lbs of pure love, he handled his pedicure like a pro and soaked up all the attention from the team.

It's important for dogs who love to be outside and make the most of summer sunshine to be protected against Leptospirosis. Your pet companions don't need to be lake or river dwellers- leptospira bacteria can be found in puddles and other small standing water spots!

Yuki visited Dr. Boyd with an upset stomach and wasn’t feeling quite like herself. She even skipped breakfast. But Dr. Boyd made sure her visit was filled with compassion, gentle care, and a few tasty treats to help her feel at ease.

At Associated Veterinary Medical Center, we’re proud to continue expanding our team of compassionate, skilled professionals who share our commitment to exceptional care. That’s why we’re thrilled to welcome Dr. Laura Beth Wick to the AVMC family.

For Dr. Wick, caring for animals has always come naturally. Surrounded by pets growing up (including a turtle named George), she was drawn early on to the power of the human-animal bond. That connection continues to fuel her passion for veterinary care today.

A 2013 graduate of Washington State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Wick is Fear Free Certified and Cat Friendly Certified. She brings a wealth of experience in soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, including cranial cruciate ligament repair. She also has a special interest in geriatric feline care and is looking forward to meeting our feline friends here at AVMC.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Wick is enjoying settling into life in Walla Walla with her fiancé, Karl, her sassy senior pup Phoebe, and her two cats, Sullivan and Floyd. She’s happiest when mountain biking, backpacking, gardening, or enjoying a quiet cup of tea.

Please join us in giving Dr. Wick the warmest Walla Walla welcome as she begins this next chapter with AVMC. We’re so glad she’s here.

In Walla Walla, warm weather means more time near rivers, ponds, and puddles. But did you know these calm waters can carry Leptospira bacteria? This bacteria spreads through the urine of infected wildlife like raccoons, deer, and rodents, and it can live in still water, even if it looks clean.

Thankfully, there’s a vaccine to help protect your dog. If outdoor adventures are on your summer agenda, make sure your pet is protected from this potentially life-threatening disease.
