Long post by one zombie-esque lady!
Fair week in general kicks your butt and makes you tired. A litter of puppies in general kicks your butt and makes you tired.
So what does the scheduling gods & Mother Nature hand us- 12 day old puppies, fair week and another litter due. It takes team work, cooperation , time management, good friends and help & sacrifice from a lot of people but we got it done!
With only 1 progesterone test, Jordan had a soft due date of Wednesday. Well that was Goat show day and just wasn’t going to work. Happy to say she held off. Thursday would have been perfect because we pulled the calf from the auction and didn’t have anything else going on. Jordan didn’t get that memo. Friday brought goat sale day & sweepstakes. Tim & Cael handled everything beautifully and thanks to Cathi Fry, I got to go watch Cael in sweepstakes.
Just as I Cathi got here and I was leaving, Jordan started progressing. I got home about 9:30 and Jordan was happy to see her mom. As the night progressed, unfortunately Jordan’s labor never really did and she never made it to the hard pushing stage. About 2:30 am she stated having a dark green/black discharge. The last time I had this, we had still born puppies. So I was on my repro vets door step at 8 am for a cesarean section.
We proud to welcome 4 boys and 1 girl. Now for the fun part. You may notice up until now I always referred to it as the Mo x Jordan litter. Mo is my young 13” male. I had always planned to use him as the sire of Jordan’s litter. When we were doing the breedings, the short king Mo had troubles reaching big girl Jordan so I did some side by sides. But I really wanted her naturally bred. And I have my gorgeous Mackey here. I love Mack to death and he and Mo are half brothers. So I decided what the heck. Mackey does not like being collected at all and doesn’t give a good enough collection to freeze. I didn’t keep any puppies from the first litter I have from him, and in 2025 Lux got pregnant but reabsorbed that litter. I was a little nervous if Mackey was still able to sire a litter, so I didn’t mention the dual sire and had (have) all intention to DNA the litter.
However I am happy to announce that at least 1 puppy is Mackey’s. Mack is Ee/Dd and Mo is ee/DD so you see, the blue Tri boy has to be Mackey’s. The black tri’s are anyone’s guess and we will just wait for DNA.
Names have yet to be decided and call names likely won’t fit registration themes as we won’t know the daddy’s for a while.
