Today is never just like any other day. We all remember where we were the moment we learned of the terrorist attack. We all watched as the heroes showed up. We watched the towers fall. And so, so many tiny details none of us will forget. So many stories we learned later. My friends worked day in and day out with their USAR canines hoping for anything. Today is the reason why I’m in the dog world at all. It’s why I volunteered to give back. So today meant a lot to me to send Kit to my fellow USAR canine handler and friend in Arizona to train her up to be a service dog. I’m so thankful to have learned from Julie’s experiences. I’m thankful to have heard firsthand experiences of this day, so that I will never forget.
Kit was picked up by a retired Marine, and a retired canine police officer and got a first class ride to her new adventure. Today is hard. This week as a whole, even harder. But this? It reminds me that good people exist, and we have to keep doing good things.
