✨Two weeks old✨

Ted x Wednesday are officially two weeks old today! Eyes are opening, everyone is gaining weight(yes I am still supplementing regularly), nails have been trimmed, they’ve listened to quite a few movies, and new things will start to be introduced daily starting this week. These puppies have gotten a LOT of handling because of the bottle feeding. Little personalities are starting to emerge…things are starting to get exciting!

I expect these puppies to be on the smaller end, Wednesday is 51 pounds, and Ted is 63 pounds. Both are great representations of the temperament of the golden retriever, friendly, highly biddable, and motivated. Both are beloved companions and gentle natured. Both get along with dogs, cats, and livestock. I expect these puppies to follow in their parent’s footsteps.

✨Please check out the website for more information and feel free to ask questions! ✨

So what is back chaining? It’s a method to teach a more complex behavior, by teaching the last step first and working your way back to the start. This is done over many training sessions or sometimes a single training session, timelines are FLEXIBLE.

1. Break it down. Break down the behavior you want in steps for yourself first.
2. Start with the very last step. Master this!
3. Then start working your way backwards, step by step, to the start of the sequence.
4. Last, start increasing difficulty!

Agility is a new sport for us, but back chaining is an old friend! It’s one of my go to ways of teaching more complex behaviors. What behaviors have you knowingly or unknowingly back chained?

Thanks for the clear instruction, .sa06 for the video, and to for loving and training Wednesday this year!
