Weekend DIY Project 🔨

Being a DIY Adult Ammy is all fun and games until the bugs are out of control 🤣 In an effort to not spend $300 on one of these bugs balls we DIY'ed this one for $10. If it works out well I will be making more.

We love our Equiband + poll days 😍

Using the Equiband (mine has been swapped out with different bands) helps the horses think about activating their core and engage their hind end. Adding in some poles will help do those things plus increase the proprioceptive value of the exercise.

A great way to get in a low impact exercise when the humidity is crazy!! 🥵

Hot Weather = Lunging Schools 🔥

BBQ has been taking full advantage of this weather by practicing his lunging in preparation to ridden work again. I love taking it slow and steady with this one because he is something special ✨

We take here seriously. A fresh locally sourced load of high quality hay has been delivered and stacked for the boys. 💪🏻

Straight back to work 💪🏻

Working on some shallow leg yielding with Dalton to get him coming through his whole body and fall into my outside rein. Also to get my body remembering where it goes (ie not being super crooked 🫣)

Long time no post!

It's finally grazing time here. After a long, never-ending and soul-crushing mud season, the grass has finally sprouted. The boys are working up to full turnout on grass, starting their first hour-long grazing interval today. That means I need to finish putting up the fencing in the big pasture 🫠

Other than that lots of lunging and ground work here due to a major concussion on my end. Hope to start riding soon 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Working on getting 'before' pics of all the kids as we come out of winter. Can we appreciate how great Dalton's top line held steady over the winter?? He may be a bit on the pudgy side but those extra hay pounds will fall off once the weather begins to cooperate 🤪🥶❄️

We're having so much fun Road Hacking. I can assure you there was no cantering but we did get some good trotting done where the footing was good on the shoulder of the road. Dalton has officially entered "Fat Boy Camp" to burn off those winter calories 🏋🏻‍♀️☀️

BBQ has been working hard on his Quad exercises 💪🏻

Over the winter because the footing has been terrible in turnout the ponies have been moving around less. Because of that BBQ has lost a bit of Quadriceps muscling causing him to toe out more behind. We've been working this spring to build that back up before we begin riding again!

To do that I warm him up over poles at the walk. For him that are set 3ft apart to really ask him to lift and stretch. Then after the poles we will do our quad exercise. This involves first standing square then gently pulling on the tail asking the horse to shift weight onto that leg, loading the quadriceps muscle. I hold this for 1 second rest for 2 seconds. I do 10 reps of this on each side every other day. We will slowly begin to build up the amount of reps we do.
