It’s important to have those pups on flea & tick prevention! 🐾

TICKS, TICKS, TICKS!!! 🕷️

We recently had a patient come in with not one… not two… but FIVE ticks attached 😳
This is a reminder that flea & tick prevention is important YEAR ROUND, especially here in Illinois!

When do ticks emerge?
• Ticks become active once temperatures consistently reach 35–45°F
• In Illinois, that can mean as early as March
• We often see peak activity in April–June and again in the fall (September–November)
• Mild winters = longer tick seasons
And with our Illinois weather being all over the place, ticks don’t follow a perfect calendar 🥴

Ticks like the one pictured (a blacklegged/deer tick) can transmit:
• Lyme disease
• Anaplasmosis
• Ehrlichiosis

The good news? Prevention is easy!
