District LDE contest tomorrow (11/7) at the HS. FFA Boosters need help prepping and serving meal deals, running concessions, and cleaning up. 9 AM to 3 PM or earlier!

We will have you out in time for both open houses and the StuCo Dessert Auction.

We will have important dates, Livestock Entry paperwork ready for you to take home, and Quality Counts info as well!

Join us for Ag Olympics and a Booster Club meeting! Elementary, Junior High, and High School are all invited to attend. Festivities will begin at 5 and the parent meeting will begin at 5:15 - allowing you to make elementary open house and the community meal - knock it all out in one evening

After consulting the calendar full of all of the afterschool activities for the month of May, we have determined that the best course of action is to keep our original banquet date of May 9th. We know we will miss some of our regular supporters as they travel to Abilene to cheer on our Bulldogette Softball team in the playoffs but we understand their decision.
If you are not planning on making the trip to Abilene, we hope to see you at our Annual FFA Banquet where we celebrate our success this last year and welcome in our new officer team!

The long road of the 2024 Career Development Event Season came to an end this weekend for the Coahoma FFA Chapter. Thousands of miles traveled, countless early mornings and late nights were poured in to these contests by our kids and I couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity to haul these great kids around the state this season.

Each contest consists of schools of all classifications across 12 FFA Areas and our kids represented our chapter incredibly well as they competed against the best in the state. We were fortunate to haul 3 of our 7 teams to State Contests this weekend.

STATE Contest Results:
Sam Houston State University - Huntsville, TX

🌱Ag Sales - students are tasked with devising a sales pitch for an agricultural product for 4 different customers they have never met before and then turning around and each pitching the product individually. This was Coahoma’s first year to have a team compete in this event at the State level.

🚜Farm and Agribusiness Management - students are tasked with a 100 question test over agricultural accounting principles. There are 50 questions over the concepts and 50 questions which require careful calculation utilizing formulas that must be memorized and completed on a simple 4-function calculator.

Texas A&M University - College Station, TX

🩺Vet Science - students are tasked with learning how to identify over 200 different breeds, parasites, organs, and instruments commonly seen or used in a vet clinic, learning 10 different hands on skills performed in a clinic setting, and learning how to compute math problems commonly seen in the clinic setting.

I cannot express how proud I am of each and every one of our students who have bought into the program and have tried a CDE. Many of these students have other obligations such as sports, college classes, jobs, and other organizations yet they still find the time to make this a priority and excel in their field. These students are passionate about their contests and if you ever get the opportunity to ask them about it - they are well informed and would love to share their experiences.

The Coahoma FFA Vet Science team traveled to San Angelo today to compete in their Area contest. We are PROUD to report that these 4 girls will compete in the STATE CONTEST at Texas A&M University at the end of the month! The team placed 2nd 🥈 in Area 2 with Ashlyn Hipp being the 8th high individual and Ava Alaman being the 10th high individual, both girls are first year team members!

Be on the lookout for more Area contest results this week, as this is only the first of eight Area teams!

Day 3 of Coahoma/Forsan Baseball Tournament is kicking off on this cold Saturday morning with Abernathy vs. Ropes at 10 am. Following that, we will host Abernathy vs. Stanton at 12:30 pm. Then our Coahoma Bulldogs take the field against Kermit at 3:00 pm and, topping off the tournament, we have Stanton vs. Hawley at 5:30 pm.

Also, our State Champion Bulldogette softball team hosts 5A Abilene Wylie at noon!

Come on out to watch a chilly day of Coahoma baseball and softball and warm up with some of our delicious hot food from the FFA Booster concession stand. Grab a cup of hot chocolate or coffee while you’re at it!

Kicking off the Coahoma/Forsan Varsity Baseball Tournament here in Coahoma on this chilly Friday is Coahoma vs. Idalou. Concessions are open serving a full menu. Come on out and let us feed you today! We’re here until the lights shut off after the last game.

Coahoma FFA members woke up early to head to Ira for their Area 2 LDE contests. While it was not the outcome we had hoped for, our students learned a ton about themselves and what it takes to compete at a higher level. We could not be prouder of how far they have come this year!

Greenhand Spanish Creed Speaking - 5th place
Ag Issues - 6th place
Greenhand Skills Team A - 7th place
Senior Skills - 11th place

Next up are stock shows and CDEs in the spring!
