UPDATE ๐
Our last-call girl, now named Peggy, had her veterinary exam today, and it turns out this sweet young girl has quite a lot going on.
She is scheduled first thing tomorrow morning for an emergency spay. During her exam, the veterinarian believes she has pyometra. Thank goodness we caught it in time.
While she's under anesthesia, she will also be having a mammary tumor removed, a hernia repaired on her side from what appears to be an old trauma, and a foxtail removed from her v***a.
The good news? Her little chicken-wing leg isn't causing her any problems. The veterinarian believes she was likely born that way, and Peggy doesn't know she's any different.
Her skin is in rough condition, so she is being started on antibiotics, antifungal medication, and Zenrelia to help relieve the constant itching and discomfort she's been living with.
Today she also had bloodwork completed and a urinalysis sent out so we can get a better picture of her overall health.
Today's veterinary visit totaled $580.
Tomorrow's surgery estimate is between $1,200 and $1,600.
Please keep Peggy in your thoughts and prayers tomorrow. Despite everything she's been through, she is one of the sweetest dogs you will ever meet. Nobody is a stranger to Peggy. Every lap is a good lap, and her tail never stops wagging.
We're all rooting for you, sweet girl. ๐
