High Plains Humane Society "THE GREATNESS OF A SOCIETY AND ITS MORAL PROGRESS CAN BE JUDGED BY THE WAY ITS ANIMALS ARE TREATED." As part of the program, each pet is spayed or neutered.

High Plains Humane Society works in Curry County and the surrounding areas to reduce animal cruelty, exploitation and neglect. We advocate for sensible public policies that bring forth positive changes in our community, and we educate the general public on the importance of being responsible pet owners. We are constantly striving to make this world a better place for our furry friends, and we netw

ork with other organizations who share our beliefs. We established a continual, low-income spay and neuter program in the community for pet owners who could not otherwise afford this service. Sterilization is the key to solving the region's over-population and excessively high euthanasia numbers. We partner with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and their staff to provide quality care for each pet. Additionally they are given important vaccinations to prevent illness and the spreading of diseases, and a microchip to assist in getting a pet back home if it ever becomes lost.

July 4th is the busiest day of the year for lost pets, and July 5th is the busiest day of the year for animal shelters!
Please keep your pets safe at home, don't be one of the owners frantically searching for your pet this year on July 4th.
Make sure they are wearing their collar and ID tag, or write your contact number in marker pen on their collar. If microchipped, make sure the microchip contact information is current.
Try some of these tips to keep your pet safe this July 4th holiday.

With the 4th of July just a few days away, please be mindful of your pets and their safety during the holiday. Many pets may be afraid of the loud noises of fireworks so be sure to properly secure your pets, give them a safe space to help them feel secure, and ensure their microchip information is up-to-date just in case they get loose over the holiday weekend.

Missing Kennels – Please Return
Following the recent spay and neuter clinic, we are missing several kennels like the one pictured. Volunteers sent cats home in individual kennels when multiple cats arrived in one, with the understanding that the kennels would be returned.
If you took a kennel home to transport your pet, please return it as soon as possible next week, we need them for other animals.
Kennels can be dropped off at our building (608 W 21st Street) on Monday or Tuesday next week between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM, or message us to make arrangements.
Thank you for your help!
