High Plains Humane Society

High Plains Humane Society "THE GREATNESS OF A SOCIETY AND ITS MORAL PROGRESS CAN BE JUDGED BY THE WAY ITS ANIMALS ARE TREATED." As part of the program, each pet is spayed or neutered.

High Plains Humane Society works in Curry County and the surrounding areas to reduce animal cruelty, exploitation and neglect. We advocate for sensible public policies that bring forth positive changes in our community, and we educate the general public on the importance of being responsible pet owners. We are constantly striving to make this world a better place for our furry friends, and we netw

ork with other organizations who share our beliefs. We established a continual, low-income spay and neuter program in the community for pet owners who could not otherwise afford this service. Sterilization is the key to solving the region's over-population and excessively high euthanasia numbers. We partner with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and their staff to provide quality care for each pet. Additionally they are given important vaccinations to prevent illness and the spreading of diseases, and a microchip to assist in getting a pet back home if it ever becomes lost.

For the past 13 years, we committed to posting daily photos of the animals at the Clovis Animal Shelter, to get the animals seen, helping the shelter increase their visibility, to increase reclaims, adoptions, and rescues. These pictures help reunite many lost pets with their family, and over the years have saved uncountable lives. Our goal has always been to support the shelter until they were able to post their own pictures and build their own presence. We are thrilled that the Clovis Shelter will begin posting shelter animals on their own social media page, and as their visibility increases we will gradually reduce the frequency of our shelter picture posts. However, we will continue to share and support the shelter with pictures when needed, depending on volunteer availability, and to help maintain their visibility.

Hey neighbor!👋 This is Jenny, the Clovis Police Department's Community Relations Coordinator. I'm excited to share that I'll also be helping out with social media for the animal shelter and the animal control team. 🐾

Expect to start seeing more updates from the shelter staff, ways YOU can get involved, and how together we can make a real difference for Clovis’ furry residents. 🐶🐱💙

Going forward, I’ll also be visiting the shelter every week to photograph the animals in the shelter's care and share them here on Facebook and the CAS's new Instagram (). Stay tuned for pictures of sweet faces looking for forever homes-- and don’t forget to share to help spread the word!

The Clovis Animal Shelter is looking for a new kennel tech.

To the individual who left a box of newborn kittens at our doorstep.
We are aware of your identity, and you were recorded on our security cameras. Regardless of whether the kittens belonged to you or were found elsewhere, it is not only illegal, but it is wholly unacceptable to abandon animals in such a manner on anyone’s doorstep, especially in the heat, and without ensuring their immediate safety.
Tragically, by the time the box was discovered, one of the kittens had already died. 😡
Understand that our location is a clinic, not an animal shelter, or rescue organization. It is only manned by volunteers limited hours, and no one was there when these kittens were dumped on our doorstep. This situation has been reported to the appropriate authorities, and all relevant information has been turned over for further investigation.
