This lil’ guy is lucky to live on 13+ acres of wooded puppy paradise, adventures every day. With that comes with some downfalls. Yesterday I pulled off 20+ ticks (I stopped counting). He is on preventative from his vet so they all died after biting this fella and feeding off of his treated 🩸.

The Funky Poodle Flea & Tick Detangler Spray helps repel the ticks from even trying to hitch a ride on your dog. It is so simple to use, just mist your pup before adventuring outside.

Please let me know if you’d like to pick one up today $20 💵

Our friends at Kyrami Canine - Formerly The Husky House have an amazing talent in sharing such valuable information about the health of our furry family members ♥️.

Somehow in the dog world, “my dog only gets bathed once or twice a year” became a weird flex. It’s not.

Routine grooming — yes, including baths — is a basic part of responsible dog ownership. Dogs live in our homes, on our furniture, in our beds, and most importantly…inside their own skin every single day. Skin and coat health matter just as much as nutrition and vet care.

The most common arguments I hear are:

“Bathing strips their natural oils.”
→ Overbathing with harsh products can, yes. But using quality shampoos on an appropriate schedule actually helps maintain healthy skin and coat. Dirt, dead skin, yeast, allergens, saliva, urine residue, and impacted undercoat sitting on the skin for months isn’t healthier.

“My dog cleans themselves naturally.”
→ Dogs are not cats. They roll in dirt, oil up, shed, sweat through paw pads, collect environmental allergens, and trap debris in coat. Especially double coated, curly coated, or dense coated breeds.

“They don’t need grooming.”
→ Every dog needs grooming. The amount just varies by breed and coat type. Nails, ears, skin checks, brushing, deshedding, sanitary care, and bathing are all grooming. Neglect isn’t “natural.”

“Bathing causes skin issues.”
→ In many cases, lack of proper maintenance causes more issues. Impacted coat, trapped moisture, bacteria, yeast buildup, and untreated skin irritation thrive in dirty, poorly maintained coats.

And honestly? A clean dog is usually a more comfortable dog. Regular grooming helps owners catch lumps, injuries, parasites, hot spots, ear infections, dental decline, and coat changes early. It keeps matting from becoming painful. It reduces excessive shedding and dander. It improves quality of life.

No one is saying every dog needs weekly spa days. But acting like avoiding grooming somehow makes someone a better or more “natural” dog owner is strange to me. Proper maintenance is part of caring for the animal you chose to own.

A well groomed dog is not a vain dog.
It’s a cared for dog.

Good information from my friends in Tennessee at The Husky House ♥️

Spring is blooming… but not everything is dog-safe 🌸⚠️

Before you plant or let your pup roam, take a quick look at some of the most common spring flowers that can be toxic (and even deadly). Tulips, daffodils, azaleas, and more can cause serious health issues—especially for curious diggers.

💜 Husky House Reminder: pretty doesn’t always mean pet-friendly.
If your dog gets into something they shouldn’t, call your vet or poison control ASAP.

Let’s keep our pups safe while we enjoy the season 🐾

🌊 Water Safety Season Is Here — Read This Before You Let Them Splash 🐾

Warmer weather means more trail days, lake days, and “let them live their best life” moments…
…but it also comes with real risks a lot of people overlook.

Let’s talk water safety 👇

🚫 Standing water = biggest red flag
Ponds, puddles, slow lakes, and anything that looks still or “stagnant” can harbor harmful bacteria and toxic algae. These environments are where dangerous blooms thrive—especially as temps rise.

⚠️ Blue-green algae is NOT just gross… it can be deadly
This isn’t dramatic—it can affect the liver and nervous system and become fatal within minutes to hours of exposure.

And here’s the kicker:
👉 You can’t always tell if it’s toxic just by looking at it.

👀 What to watch for:
• Water that looks like pea soup, paint, or slime
• Green/blue film or foam along the edges
• Weird smells (rotting plants, musty)
• Dead fish or debris in the water

💧 Moving water = safer (not foolproof, but better)
Clear, flowing creeks and rivers are typically a safer bet than still water—but always use common sense.

🐕 How dogs get exposed:
• Drinking the water
• Swimming + licking it off their coat
• Eating algae or shoreline gunk

Even a small amount can be dangerous.

🧼 If your dog goes in questionable water:
• Rinse them immediately with clean water
• Don’t let them lick themselves until rinsed
• Watch for symptoms (vomiting, weakness, seizures, drooling)
• Call your vet ASAP if anything feels off

✔️ Husky House Rules for Water Days:
• Bring your own fresh water (so they’re not tempted to drink sketchy stuff)
• Avoid stagnant water—no exceptions
• Stick to clean, moving water when possible
• When in doubt? Skip it. Not worth the risk.

We’re all about adventure over here…
but we’re also about getting everyone home safe.

Stay smart. Stay observant.
And if you ever aren’t sure about a body of water—walk away. 🐺💜
