Look who just earned her degree in Defying the Odds! πŸ“œπŸ•πŸ’¨

Our 6-year-old Heeler mix, Olive, is officially a graduate!

Not long ago, Olive faced a massive hurdle when a rare spinal injury (an acute, non-compressive nucleus pulposus extrusion) caused sudden hind-end paralysis. It was scary, but Olive had other plans.

Today, she is officially graduated and cleared back to regular doggy life. She’s running, playing, and showing off a beautiful, pain-free gait that we once only dreamed of. πŸ₯Ήβ€οΈ

No more patient status for this girlβ€”she’s a free agent again! Congratulations, Olive! We love you so much!

πŸ• Does your dog move like they used to?

Gait changes are often the FIRST sign something is wrong β€” and owners frequently dismiss them as "just getting older."
Watch for:
πŸ”΄ Head bobbing while walking
πŸ”΄ Short-striding on one leg
πŸ”΄ Hind end swaying side to side
πŸ”΄ Reluctance to trot or run

These are not normal aging β€” they are signals your dog needs help.

🐢 How your dog rests matters more than you think!

The positions your dog chooses to lie in can reveal a lot about their joint comfort and spinal health.

βœ… Sphinx (sternal) β€” neutral and healthy
βœ… Full lateral β€” relaxed and comfortable
⚠️ Always flopped to one side β€” may indicate hip or spine discomfort
⚠️ Never lies flat β€” could signal pain when bearing weight on ribs

Not sure what your dog's resting position is telling you? Let's talk!

πŸ’¬ Quick question for dog parents!
When your dog lies down, which position do they use most often?
A) On their side (full lateral)
B) Sphinx position (sternal)
C) On their back (legs in the air!)
D) The "sloppy flop" β€” half on, half off!

Drop your answer in the comments! πŸ‘‡ Each position can tell us something about your dog's comfort and mobility.

πŸ‘€ Is your dog hiding pain from you?

Weight shifting is one of the most subtle β€” and most common β€” signs of discomfort in dogs. If you notice your dog leaning, favoring a leg, or standing unevenly, it's time to get them assessed.
