Last night was a "barn burner" of a game and one of the best I have seen in a while. I went to Sterling High and watched Morgan and the Duchesses trade leads with the Warriors for three nail biting sets. Once in a while I will see an athlete who really stands out. Morgan is not only a gifted and hard working athlete, but between plays, it was not uncommon catching her encouraging and communicating with her team You can tell this team has been together for a while and I can't wait to see what good things come for them this season. Thanks to Sterling High School for their hospitality and congrats to Dixon on win #1.

One thing you may not know about me is I am always trying to improve my skills as a photographer. One of the many avenues I take is through professional print competitions where my work is scored and evaluated by nationally certified judges who are not afraid to kick your stuff to the curb at times, but will also voice the "why" in doing so. I have had some competitions where I have left feeling pretty good and I have had some where I have had some wounds to lick. All of them have been learning experiences. My most recent one was bitter sweet. Although many of my images left the judges with a lot of things to say, one of my images finished at the top of its category. This is an image I had entered at several comps and fine tuned within the rules and it finally hit the mark. Although I am grateful to take take first in its category, I am even more grateful for the people who have chosen to work with us over the years. We sell an experience to our clients, but ironically, our clients give us an even greater experience. This is the image and was in Champaign of Zane Pannell at the State wrestling tournament. We are truly blessed to do what we do and very thankful for each of you!! God bless y'all and I'll see on the sidelines!!

New on the blog - Mansfield Mayhem with the Professional Photographers of Ohio.
This is the third year that we here at Pix Along The Way have taken a group from our Clinton studio and traveled to Mansfield, Ohio, for a photo shoot sponsored by the Professional Photographers of Ohio. This year we were excited to be able to bring two of our own daughters, also with Catia, a senior at West Carroll in Savanna, Illinois.

This wasn't just any photo shoot. We spent the evening at the Ohio State Reformatory, a decommissioned prison where they filmed Shawshank Redemption.
