We had a hive of bees swarm for the second time this year….here is our attempt to catch the Queen and the swarm. The chainsaw had already gotten stuck in tree, so Jas had to use a handsaw. When the limb lands, watch the swarm of bees scatter! 🐝 🍯

With temperatures getting ready to dip into the 30s, we decided it was time to do one last pick in the garden. I see more canning in my future! While outside, we had a special visitor we’ve been seeing more and more lately, mr. fox! Thank goodness the chickens were in their coop. We’ve been having a few issues with the chickens, so we were getting almost no eggs. I’m happy to say they’re all happy, healthy and back to laying! We’ve been blessed by our garden this year, so we’ll be able to eat healthy home grown food through the winter!

Left to right, June, July and September honey spins. Yes, they each taste different, but are equally delicious! We currently have over 22 gallons of honey in our pantry, not bad for a small backyard apiary! Fun facts, in weight that’s over 265 pounds of honey and an average honey bee will make 1/12 of a teaspoon of honey in its lifetime....so it would take about 203,904 bees to make the 22 gallons! 🐝 🍯💛🖤
