From Cashew:

“What I love most and am grateful for is the silence on a nice sunny day or clear night. Our farm is pretty bustling most of the day. But there is a time at the end of the day when most of the humans are gone and we animals all can relax and take a breath and just be. Some days we have to process an awful lot of energy from the humans who come to visit and who work around us. When our human friends have problems, we feel it too. We try to help. Some days it is way more work than most of you are aware. But there is that moment when it is just us and the land and we regroup and feel peace and quiet and contentment. It happens every day. I am grateful for that feeling every time. And we then try to share that feeling with our human friends the next day. Life is truly good. Please don’t lose sight of that.”

From Gilligan:

“I am a lucky goat. My friend Max and I have seen some really bad things. In the place we came from, we watched a lot of our friends that did not survive. I am not just grateful to be alive, but my heart still goes out to the ones who never found what Max and I were lucky to find. When you go through hard times, it is always easier with the help of a friend. We animals have friendships too. And we don’t take them lightly. We lean into them because we often don’t have them for long. To be in a place now where I can know that my friends are all staying here with me and we are safe. And there is nothing in this world that beats feeling and knowing that. That is what I am most grateful for.”

From Little Sammy:

“I am new here but oh am I so glad I came here. This is a busy place. There is so much work to do. People come in looking for comfort and I am here to give that. I just like being quiet so that someone who feels lost can find their way. I really like my cat friends too. This is a whole new life for me and I am so excited to have found this! It is kind of funny. I was losing my home and could find nowhere else to go. But when I hit my lowest point is where I found right where I was supposed to be. It’s funny how that works. It is good not to judge the hard times we go through because sometimes it is the path to what we’ve always wanted. I am grateful to be here.”

From Charlie:

“I wish I could explain to people that I am bigger than I look. By “bigger” I mean that I have a greater purpose than most people give me credit for. I am in a little pony body and labeled often as having “pony attitude” or “grumpy and difficult”. The truth is I am actually just looking to be acknowledged for the enormity of my energy and who I really am. But I’ve noticed that people also belittle themselves all of the time. Why do you do that? You are each very beautiful beings. Why waste your time on judging or labeling yourself and others? I am grateful to be a pony. I am grateful to be alive. And most of all, whether you really see me or not, I am grateful to be me! I wish you the gift of being grateful for who you are too!”

From Betsy:

“I am most grateful for uncomplicated days. You, as a human, may think … geez what could be so complicated for a chicken! But humans often don’t understand that they aren’t the only ones who have complex thinking. There can be very challenging times for chickens. I, for one, don’t like when there is a lot of fear or anxiety in the air. And right now, there is an awful lot of that around. I can speak for the wild animals as well. They feel it too. The world has a lot of agitation. And it plays out and spreads throughout the entire world. Birds are tuned in to all of that. And, so am I. I am very grateful that I live a very blessed life for a chicken. And I am grateful for that every moment of every day. I wish you humans could see that too for yourselves.”

From Herbert:

“I am really new at this and don’t really know what to say. I am grateful for all of my cat friends. I really like living here. I don’t like it when other cats get into disagreements. But it usually passes quickly. I like being fed. I like toys and treats. I really love when they come with catnip and that makes all of us feel really good. It feels good to be me. I guess that is all I can say. I hope you have happiness in your lives. And friends. And food. And I hope you feel grateful too.”

From Carley:

“Ok, so here is what I need to say. I just love being here. It’s that simple. I have spent more time here on this farm now than anywhere else before. Which is a good thing if you knew where I came from. I love when visitors come up to see us and some of them have never seen a donkey before. I go slow and then come up to the fence for them to pet me. It is such a special thrill when tiny people come. I love to hear them giggle. My donkey family is right with me and they enjoy the visitors too. It feels important that we let them meet us. I am grateful for all of them who come and see us. Our human family tells us that we do important work. And I think that is just wonderful. I am just a little white donkey. But I can still have an impact in the world. I am grateful to know that.”

From Friday:

“Being a bunny is a privilege that I do not take lightly. If you’ve never really gotten to know a rabbit, then you might be missing out on something truly special. I can read a lot about the whole area I live in just from feeling it through my feet. My connection to the earth is very deep. My sensitivity is highly tuned and greatly cherished. Rabbits feel most everything from everyone around them. You see us as flighty sometimes. But we are delicately balanced between the worlds of spirit and physical. Sometimes that connection is as light as a feather. I am grateful to be a rabbit. And I soak up every single moment I can. Next time you see a bunny, try to look at them with appreciation for all the energy they experience at one time. It is quite extraordinary.”

From Dandy:

“What is there not to be grateful for when you are as stunning as I am? I know that sounds arrogant but truly I am grateful for my whole life. I have not been as loving as I always could be but in my younger times I went through a lot of medical issues. It was painful. It took a long time before I could grow up and be a normal cat. Now, what I like best is to bring out the best in my human friends. I feel like I am here for big work. Humans come in to see me with such heaviness in their hearts. I won’t allow that to stay there. Nope. If they come to see me, we are going to just lighten up and search for a brighter day. That is what I do. And I am happy to share that with whoever will stop for a second and be with me.”

From Tulip:

“At first I wasn’t sure I could do this but my friend Charlie told me I should. It is not that I don’t have a lot to be grateful for because I do. But no one has ever asked me what I cared about before and I didn’t know what to do with that. This is all new to me. My experience with humans has been one of trying to do all I could not to make them mad and to stay out of their way. They never really cared for me and to be honest, I guess I started to not care anymore too. I spend a lot of time just being quiet. Some see me as reserved. But truthfully, I’m just taking this all in. Soaking it up. Breathing deeply into the kindness all around me. This is a whole new world for me. And it is stunning. It is true that there is a lot of kindness in the world. But when you are locked away from it for a long time, you start to give up. My message is for anyone that feels they can’t find kindness, you are not alone. But there is so much more that you can’t see. Because kindness is alive and well. And I am so immensely grateful to know and experience that.”
