Received and interesting email from a hunter in Michigan. A customer of ours had purchased some Hann Made Calls “Sucker Bands” and had helped the USGS band birds. Turns out he put a couple HMC bands on a few of these ducks and one lucky hunter in Michigan shot one yesterday for the Michigan opener. Below is the email we received.

Michigan Opener was and absolutely blast like it is every year. Nothing beats the time in the duck blind with the guy. Michigan’s opener on the 5th of October would be a memory stagged for life. At 9am a solo mallard came fullly committed into the decoys without hesitation. After a good shot was placed we went and retrieved the bird… there was a yell in the distance. “ITS BANDED… ITS DOUBLE BANDED!” We he brought the bird back to the blind we notice something very different about the bands. One band was a federal and one said Hanns Made Calls, “GOT YOU SUCKER!” At this time we the blind lit up with laughter. What a great memorable piece for the lanyard!

We have confirmed this is a true and accurate account. It was also confirmed that this customer did band 6 mallards so if you by chance get one, let us know. It will be double banded!!!!

Today, thanks to River Bound Taxidermy, we got Jenny’s mounts back of her first ducks she has ever shot. The work is incredible, and we couldn’t be happier with how they turned out. If you are looking for an amazing artist, be sure to take your next mount to them! We for sure will be taking more!
