🚧 TRAFFIC ALERT — Route 81 Milling & Paving Project 🚧
Some long-overdue roadway improvements are coming to Route 81 in Clinton and Killingworth.
The Connecticut Department of Transportation will begin milling and paving operations along Route 81 starting this week. While this project will bring some temporary traffic delays and lane closures, the end result will be a much-needed improvement to one of our major travel routes.
Milling operations are scheduled to begin in Killingworth on June 9 and progress south toward Clinton, with anticipated completion around June 25.
Paving operations are scheduled to begin at Route 1 in Clinton on June 29and continue north along Route 81 into Killingworth, with anticipated completion around August 17.
Motorists should expect:
🚧 Lane closures
🚗 Traffic delays
⚠️ Uneven road surfaces during milling
👷 Construction vehicles and workers in the roadway
A smoother, safer roadway benefits everyone — residents, commuters, emergency responders, school buses, businesses, and visitors traveling through our community. Improvements like this help support safer travel conditions and help us continue keeping Clinton moving and Clinton safe.
Please plan ahead, allow extra travel time, slow down, and use caution in active work zones. Help us protect the road crews, police officers, and motorists sharing the roadway.
Slow down. Stay alert. Keep workers safe.
