We want to share some important cases that Macomb County Animal Control has been working on. First, we would like to provide an update on Maeby, the German short-haired Pointer who was the victim of an incident that occurred on February 6th. Maeby required extensive surgeries involving pins, surgical hardware, and closure of wounds. Maeby is now recovering in her foster home but has a very long road ahead including physical therapy and behavior modifications to rebuild her trust with men. The medical care Maeby has received has resulted in costs exceeding $10,000 and is not over yet.
Our work doesn’t stop with Maeby. Within the last couple of weeks. we have responded to 2 animal hoarding cases, one in Harrison Township and one in Centerline. These calls resulted in Animal Control obtaining 50+ cats, 21 birds and 9 dogs all in terrible condition and in need of medical care. We will continue to step up to help Macomb County’s animals, but we can’t do it without you. Thank you to everyone who has donated, shared, and supported us in our mission. If you’re able, please consider donating to our Animal Welfare fund today—every dollar helps save lives! ♥ https://www.macombgov.org/departments/animal-control/animal-control-donations
