We appreciate the hard work and dedication rescues and shelters do. They do the hard jobs, the thankless jobs, they run on volunteers, low-no budgets and still make it happen, they organize events and fundraisers, they run into some of the most horrific scenes and save animals- giving them a second chance at living a better life.

We help when we can and where we can because with out them, animals will get forgotten and left behind, or left to fend and fight for themselves.

Help us help them with your VOTE!!

If you've followed our work for any length of time, you've probably heard us mention Benson's Cares. They are one of those organizations that never hesitates to step up when their community needs help. 🫶

💚 When we needed puppy food for our recent intake? Benson's Cares was there!

💚 When our Community Pet Food Pantry needed shopping carts to help serve our pantry patrons? Benson's Cares was there!

💚 When emergency veterinary care threatened to overwhelm our budget? Benson's Cares was there.

Time and time again, they've shown up for us and for countless other organizations throughout our region.

Now they have the chance to win up to $12,000 through the Solomon Greater Capital Region Give a Chance Charitable Event, and we're asking our community to help them the same way they've helped so many others.

Let's show them some love - vote every day through June 30th and help an organization that makes a real difference continue supporting communities across the Capital Region. 🐾

🐾 Meet Tanner
Chihuahua Mix • DOB 11/26/23 • ~12 lbs
Neutered, UTD, cat & small-dog friendly

Tanner is a sweet, sensitive little guy looking for an active but predictable home where he can feel safe, loved, and included. He loves walks, cuddling for TV time, and being close to his people.

He does best in calmer homes with older kids (8+) and no large dogs. Tanner can be vocal when excited or overstimulated, but he’s also affectionate, athletic, and full of personality. He’d thrive as an only dog or with a calm small dog or cat friend.

He’s currently working on outdoor potty training and would love a fenced yard or daily adventures.

🏡 Ideal home:
• Active but structured
• No large dogs
• Older kids preferred
• Patient adopter familiar with sensitive small dogs

Responsible Use of Our Pet Food Pantry

We wish to clarify the purpose and guidelines of our pet food pantry. This service aims to provide help to individuals experiencing hardship and give temporary assistance, not complete support. We are here to assist and alleviate a portion of the burden temporarily until you are able to find a long-term equilibrium that you can maintain -in order to properly keep your current pet(s). Specifically:

- Our pantry is not intended for individuals who acquire a new pet without proper planning or resources.
- It is not a solution for those who purchase animals from breeders and subsequently find themselves unable to care for them.
- We cannot support those who hoard multiple animals in unsanitary or abusive conditions.

If you find it difficult to say no to rescuing animals but are unable to provide the care they need, we encourage you to seek alternative solutions. If you feel overwhelmed and distressed regarding your pet’s well-being, please know that there are resources available to assist you.

Additionally, if you observe animals living in abusive or unsanitary conditions, you have a responsibility to take action. Contact animal control officers, who are trained to intervene and protect vulnerable animals. Persistent reporting can make a difference.

Together, we can ensure that our community is a safe and loving environment for all animals. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
