“Why are you selling?”
“How long have you had him?”
“Jeesh that’s a bit of a steep $”
“So you’re just a horse trader?”
Just a few of the questions that make me wanna pull my hair out… and they’re some of the most common inquiries I get. And I answer them all honestly without hesitation. And here’s why…
I’m selling him because it’s what I do. I buy, train, tune up, feed up, doctor, rehab, and sell. I’ve saved countless horses from uncertain futures and found them 5 ⭐️ homes. I’ve taken a horse that would have been Mexico bound and found them their own forever family after TLC. I’ve taken blown up rope & barrel horses, taught them new jobs, and made them worth their original value again. I’ve put 200 pounds on a skinny one. I’ve fixed neglected feet and sharp teeth. And I’ve taken some dang nice horses that just ended up in the wrong place at the wrong time, and helped them to find their forever homes. I have a long list of horses that I still receive happy updates on from their new families regularly, and it makes this all so so much more rewarding!
But guess what… all of that takes time and money. I work 24/7 instead of a 9 to 5. My horses eat before I do most nights. They get new shoes while I’m wearing worn out boots. I do it tired, I do it sick, i do it injured, and i do it alone a lot of the time. I love all of these animals that I’m so fortunate enough to get to work with and do everything I can for them.
Some horses are here for a week, some for 3 months others a yr. No matter the amount of time here, they are put to the test to find holes in their training before being listed. Good homes and correct fits are important to me, so why would I lie?
All that being said…. Why is it so wrong that I make a living doing all of this? Work hard and stay honest, love the horses, and make it my career. That’s why I’m selling!!!
