As the temps drop and snomageddon rushes in, please remember if you see a Husky, Great Pyrenees, Aussie, or some other thick coated, hard-headed, dog breed outside, just shake your head, and keep on rolling by. No need to dial 9-1-1, call a rescue, chase the dog down and try to take it to a warm place, or take pictures and blast the exasperated owners on social media.
This is the weather some dogs dream of ALL 👏🏾 YEAR 👏🏾 LONG 👏🏾. We promise you their owners have coaxed, yelled, and tried to bribe these dogs in, all while their dogs stare blankly at them like they’ve suddenly gone deaf. He’s fine. She’s fine. They’re all fine.

She says this much more diplomatically than I would be able to. I've dealt with a rescue here who, despite my prior vet tech experience and taking care of pets, tried to convince me that the cat I adopted from them didn't come home sick. He had a raging respiratory infection and feline herpes. A week after I spoke to them they said they could bring me some medicine because oh the other cats got sick too.

Then the other cat we adopted from them died at 2.5 years old. We just came home and found him dead. We're all still grieving. I had an autopsy done to make sure it wasn't poison or something that could hurt any other animals and he had severe cardiomyopathy. Now that's not their fault but I messaged them and said hey if you have adopted out any litter mates of his they need to know and they didn't even respond back.

And the same rescue was helping with a foster and trying to convince me that ringworm is no big deal. Well yes it is. It's very contagious, very difficult to get rid of, and expensive to treat. Plus if you have any other animals, or you yourself are immunocompromised, that ramps up the risk factor.

Girl With The Dogs lays this all out nicely.

I wish I could apply for this. General Pet Supply are the best. They are all animal lovers who are very knowledgeable. And if you stop in say hi to my girl Gypsy who lives at the shop. For the last four years she rides around my shoulder at the shop and has to be bribed to come down, which is the racket. I miss all the birds I cared for in California so getting some bird time always fills my heart with joy.

I feel this way about all the senior pets I love and care for. Also Girl With The Dogs is amazing. I wish she was close to me so I could send my pet clients who have difficulty with grooming to her.

It is both a privilege and a heartbreak to watch your dog grow old beside you, because every gray hair tells the story of another year you were lucky enough to share together. You never forget how many seasons of your life they have walked through with you, from who you were when you first met, to who you have become. They are a reflection of so many versions of yourself. The early mornings, the late nights, the moves, the changes, the heartbreaks, the quiet days, and the big moments, they were there through them all. Caring for a senior dog feels like going full circle back to the puppy stage again, only this time with slower steps, more appointments, more patience, more hands on care, and a deeper tenderness that comes from knowing how precious every moment has become. And here is Mr. Ace, still kicking at 13 years old, reminding me every single day how strong love can be, and how much joy can live inside even the gentlest seasons of life. Even when it is exhausting, even when the worry feels heavy, I would never trade a single second of it, because to love them through old age is the greatest proof of the life you built together, and the bond you chose to protect all the way to the very end.

Thanksgiving is right around the corner! 🦃🍂
Here’s a quick reminder that not all holiday foods are safe for our pets — and some risks are different for cats and dogs.

🐶 Dogs — Foods to Avoid:
• Turkey skin & bones
• Gravy & stuffing
• Fatty foods (can cause pancreatitis)
• Chocolate & sweets
• Onions, garlic, raisins, grapes
• Alcohol & raw dough
Safe in small amounts: Plain cooked turkey (no skin or bones), plain pumpkin, green beans.

🐱 Cats — Foods to Avoid:
• Turkey skin, bones, & fatty meat
• Stuffing & seasoned foods
• Onions, garlic, scallions (very toxic to cats)
• Chocolate & dairy
• Alcohol & raw dough
Safe in small amounts: Plain cooked turkey, plain pumpkin, unseasoned veggies (if they enjoy them!).

🏡 Keeping Pets Comfortable During Gatherings:
• Create a Safe Space: Set up a quiet, cozy spot with their favorite bed, toys, and water.
• Monitor Doorways: Guests coming and going can create escape risks — use baby gates or keep pets in a secure room.
• Maintain Their Routine: Stick to regular feeding, walking, and play schedules.
• Supervise Interactions: Remind children to interact gently with pets.
• Avoid Table Scraps: Kindly encourage guests not to feed pets from the table.
Wishing you and your furry family a safe and happy Thanksgiving! 🐾❤️

Wonderous world of animals!

As Darling Doolittle enters it’s 23rd year I am excited to open the schedule for new clients. Offering safe individualized daily dog walks of 30 minutes, 1 hour or 3 hours. I work with most four-legged animals, winged-ones, creepy crawlies, those that slither, and everything in between.

With over 30 years experience with dogs and cats you can feel relaxed knowing your pets are in great hands. I believe in spending one on one time with your pet. This allows me to keep my undivided attention on them for their safety as well as my own.

I’ve had many animal loves throughout the years but I am currently blessed by:

To save us both some time please note that there is a process to go through prior to the start of any service. I don’t offer emergency or last-minute services for pets I haven’t previously met. It is imperative that your pet(s) and I work well together which is why I offer a 30 minute meet and greet free of charge. My schedule is on a first come, first serve basis which is why it’s great to sign-up for a weekly walking plan which also offers a discount! I have a special gift with unsocial and/or shy dogs. I do not breed discriminate. In fact, I’d love to work with your pitbull, Mastiff, Newfoundland, Irish Wolf Hound, Eurasier, or Burmese Mountain Dog. I love my little darlings but I’d love to walk some giants too! I have extensive experience with “wolf-breeds” Kugshas, Huskies, Malamautes, and Tamaskans.
