The next time you roll your eyes at someone for calling herself a “dog mom”…

Pause.

Because for some women…

You don’t know who’s buried a baby.

Who’s endured years of infertility.

Who’s emptied their savings on fertility treatments.

Who’s prayed over empty nurseries.

Who’s still waiting for a child that may never come.

To you…

It’s “just a dog.”

It’s someone she pours every ounce of the love she dreamed of giving a child into.

No, a dog isn’t the same as a baby.

Most women know that better than anyone.

But love has to go somewhere.

And sometimes…

The only little heartbeat waiting for her at home has four paws instead of two feet.

So before you judge someone for saying they’re a dog mom…

Remember…

You have no idea what silent grief they may be carrying.

Choose compassion.
