This past week at the Ridgeside K9 Seminar I was asked by Rich Hartman and Eric Stanboro to demonstrate proper tug play. There’s nothing like seeing the switch flip. That moment when a dog goes from unsure and hesitant…to laser focused, tail up, moving with confidence like they own the world. It’s not magic. It’s not luck. It’s the result of clear communication, intentional training, and time spent building trust. Every rep matters. Every experience matters. And when it all clicks; you can feel it. Socialization isn’t just about dog parks and people, it’s about helping your dog navigate all parts of the world with confidence.

Today, Saddie the Dachshund took a big step in her training journey… by making a new feline friend! 🐾

Introducing your dog to calm, controlled interactions with other species helps build a well-rounded companion that’s comfortable in real-life situations. Saddie handled it like a champ curiosity, respect, and zero drama.

That’s what proper socialization looks like.

🐕 Ace the Belgian Malinois was bred, raised, and trained right here at Ridgeside K9 Ashtabula; today, he meets his forever family. ❤️

The Cooley Family drove all the way from Arkansas and will be spending a few days here in Ohio learning how to handle their new Malinois puppy. Ace has completed months of training and now it’s time to transfer all that knowledge to his people.

This is where the real bond begins, let's get to work.
