A few wild finds this weekend! 🍄

Our forager brought us some beautiful wild chanterelles and chicken of the woods to add to our regular selection of locally grown lion’s mane and oyster mushrooms.

Chanterelles are known for their delicate flavor and subtle apricot-like aroma, and chicken of the woods has a firm, meaty texture that makes it versatile and fun to cook with.

Wild mushrooms depend on the season and growing conditions, so we never know exactly what our forager will find or when we’ll have them available again.

We’re always excited to see what our forager finds, and just as excited to see what you make with them!

When is the best time to harvest a papaya? 🧡

Farmer Victor shows us what papayas look like at different stages of ripeness and explains what to look for before picking.

We harvest ours before they’re fully ripe because otherwise the critters will enjoy them before we do!

These trees were grown from seed and planted in March at just about a foot tall, and we’re already enjoying their fruit.

We love how quickly papayas grow, and the flavor of the ones we’re growing here is incredible!

Our volunteer papaya 🧡

Have you ever heard of a volunteer plant?

It’s a plant that grows without being intentionally planted, often from seeds dropped by birds, other animals, or fallen fruit.

This papaya tree popped up in an area of the farm where we never planned to grow one!

We originally planned to remove it to avoid shading the crops beneath it, but everything has been coexisting beautifully.

Now it’s absolutely loaded with papayas, and we just can’t bring ourselves to take it down!

Victor admiring all the unexpected growth

These little papayas and new leaves are so cute, and look at the beautiful patterns and colors on the trunk!

Our tiny new additions to the farm 🐣💛

We’re so excited to watch our cute little chicks grow into a happy, healthy flock and eventually start collecting fresh eggs from our hens!

For now, they’re pecking around in the grass, eating organic feed, and enjoying the fresh air in a protected outdoor space that keeps them safe while they grow.

And they’re growing surprisingly fast, so please come by the farm to see them while they’re still tiny and help us get them comfortable around people!
