Remember our sweet little Max from last summer? We got a sweet update on him today. He is living his best life in his new home. He has a kitty and a dog to keep him company. His new family says he enjoys dog toys more than cat toys. ā˜ŗļø This is why we do what we do. Max's life has been made infinitely better by the person who found him and brought him to us, our temporary care, and the love of his forever family. This is what happens when we all decide to come together and care. Keep enjoying your life like a champ, Max!

Hi, everyone! I hope you have been keeping warm these last few bitterly cold weeks. It looks like a little warmer weather is on our horizon. I wanted to touch base so you all didn't forget we are out here. We have been kind of silent because, well, Nana's Fosters can't take in kittens during the winter months. Some of you are aware because we have messaged, or you have been here and know our setup, that our kennel room is in the barn and it's not heated. The only other options would be my home, or my daughter's home and we have our own pets so it's not possible to bring kitties into our little organization until the weather is warmer. I did want to take this opportunity to remind people that our main focus is on neo-natal kittens. We are not a shelter and do not, as a general rule take in adult cats. First of all because we have no guaranteed outcome for them. If they don't get adopted then we have no other choice but to make them barn cats. And that is not our ideal outcome...ever. But also because we are fortunate to have a local SPCA that will do all they can to find homes for adult cats and they have the facility to bring people in to view adoptable cats. Our intention is to help fill a need during kitten season with the many displaced litters that turn up every year. That being said, we do have a few kitties still available for adoption. Merlin, an adult male who was trapped recently and turned out to be a really lovely boy. Ember, who is a young adult female. And Jingle, Ember's kitten, who is a rambunctious and loving kitten. If you are interested in any of these three kitties please message us here at Nana's Fosters. Their pictures and info can be found on our page. And of course, we are located in Clearfield County, PA. We do still have a need for food and litter so if you think of us and want give us a little help you can check out our Amazon list posted near the top of our page. Thank you all for caring about our fosters here. Stay warm!

Meet Merlin!

Merlin came to us when my daughter was doing TNR for a small feral colony. One of these things was not like the others. Without a scrap of feral in him, we knew Merlin was destined for bigger things.

Merlin is an older boy. Probably about 7 years or so. He is FIV positive but don’t let that scare you! Other than the occasional stuffy nose, he is healthy and in good spirits. He has been neutered, vaccinated, flea treated, and dewormed.

Merlin would like to request a family that understands his condition and loves him anyway. He would also like to request someone who won’t mind giving him endless pets and snuggles. A cozy bed is a must!! He has tasted indoor family life and he doesn’t have any interest in going back.

Consider making Merlin a part of your family! Message us here at Nana’s Fosters to set up a time to meet Merlin. He deserves a home too. We are located in Clearfield County, PA.

Panleukopenia. It’s a word no one in any form of rescue wants to hear. It has a 90% fatality rate in unvaccinated kittens. With aggressive treatment the fatality rate drops to 50-75%. Yet we found ourselves in the vet’s office with two small kittens and a positive Panleukopenia test. Armed with information from the wonderful vet at Allegheny, and tutorials from The Kitten Lady (if you know, you know) we applied that aggressive treatment and strict quarantine protocols and this is the result. Sweet Dumpling, and Acorn have both been adopted! Sweet Dumpling was adopted into a loving family who are committed to filling her life with love. And as sometimes happens, Acorn was adopted by my partner at Nana’s Fosters. When you pour so much time and love into saving their little lives, it can be hard to break those bonds. I am happy with the outcome. I am happy that these two little lives were saved. And remember to vaccinate your cats and kittens. Kittens can begin their FVRCP series between 6-8 week of age. Then a booster at one year of age. Then 1-3 years after that depending on your cat’s lifestyle. This vaccine saves lives. Congratulations, kittens! Enjoy your lives. 🄰

My sweet little Carson, what a time we’ve had. The end of summer became brutally busy with 13 kittens needing bottle raised. Carson was our busy boy. Playing full tilt and then crashing and falling into sweet cuddles and sleep. We watched as each kitten left for their own home. But Carson, the last of our Windy Hill babies, waited. When this mom and son duo came to visit we were so impressed with this young man. His peaceful energy was calming to the animals here and Carson took to him. We think Carson found his perfect forever family. And that is why we do what we do. 😊

Jingle had the right idea about how to manage an ice storm. Find your favorite snuggle blanket, and wait it out. He’s a pretty smart guy for being just a few months old. 😊

Usually I only post one adoption picture, but, is it just me or are they both making the same face in each picture? This gal is a friend who helps us bottle feed from time to time, and she happened to be here to help feed Adaline when she was just tiny. She has been around for each stage of Adaline’s life so far and it became apparent that the two were meant for each other. So we were happy to complete this Christmas Day adoption. Stoat, as we have affectionately called Adaline since birth, is going to live the best life ever!

Heath got himself adopted for Christmas! What a great gift for him. A forever home. This is the home of a previous adopter so it was an easy decision. Congratulations on your new family, Heath!
