🦮OBEDIENCE CLASS INFORMATION🐕‍🦺 - Signups Available Now!! First come, first serve!!

We have officially finalized the details on the basic obedience classes. The class will be held on Tuesdays, 6:30 to 7:30 pm, from August 18th to September 15th. These dates are fairly set in stone although they are subject to change if conflicts arise with the venue. Here is more information:

🐾Tuesdays, 6:30-7:30 pm, Aug 18-Sept 15 (5 weeks long)
🐾$150 per dog, no discounts for multiple dogs
🐾Each dog must have its own handler
🐾Will be held at the covered Orrin Hogan Arena, at the fairgrounds
🐾No children under 16 years old
🐾No people aggressive dogs
🐾There will be a maximum of 10 dogs, minimum of 5 dogs. First come, first serve. If you do not get into this class and there is enough interest, we will host additional classes.
🐾Dogs must have a well fitting collar as well as a 4 to 6 foot leash. No retractable leashes please.
🐾Must bring high value treats for rewarding.
🐾Dogs must be current on Rabies, Distemper/Parvo, and Bordetella vaccines.
🐾We will need an email as this will be our means of communication.

To sign up, please call us at the clinic at 785-632-5090 to register. Payment is required at time of registering. Again, it is first come, first serve - although more classes will likely be held.

TRAINING CLASSES UPDATE: This afternoon we will be posting information on dog training classes! For now, we wanted to introduce you to the trainer!!

Petra Burke has been a dog trainer for over 35 years and previously co-owned Kindred Spirits Dog Training in San Diego, California. She has taught a wide range of classes, including obedience at all levels, puppy training, trick training, carting, Canine Good Citizen, therapy dog and agility. Petra’s own dogs have always been an important part of her work, serving as trusted demo dogs throughout her classes. Since moving here to Kansas in February 2022, to be near her daughter, Petra now enjoys life on her 15-acre hobby farm with her horse, steer, ducks, chickens, goats, English Shepherds, and livestock guardian dogs. When she is not working with animals, she is happiest riding her zero-turn mower, Bumblebee, or her tractor, Monarch—living the dream and having fun along the way.

We are very excited to work with Petra to put on these classes as she is a very trusted professional with a lot of experience under her belt! Please check our page this afternoon for more information on registering. The class will be first come first serve once registering opens up.

The answer is HISTOPLASMOSIS!! 🦠🧫

We had a lot of great guesses, including some correct guesses! The pattern seen on the radiograph is called a miliary pattern which is usually seen with fungal disease or metastatic neoplasia (cancer). 🩻 The history of this cat is what really gave away the diagnosis. This was a very young cat that lived outside most of the time and spent quite a bit of his time exploring the chicken coop! 🐓

Histoplasmosis is a fungal infection that cats most commonly acquire from fungal spores in the soil contaminated by bird or bat f***s. 🦇💩 Since this cat was young and spent a lot of time in a moist chicken coop, histoplasmosis came right to mind! This cat was treated with a long course of an anti-fungal medication called itraconazole, as well as other supportive care, and he made a full recovery! We're glad his owners were so diligent and caught on to his subtle symptoms very early! 🐾❤️

We are now offering Bravecto Quantum! Daxton was our first patient - he is thrilled he doesn't have to take the oral Bravecto every 3 months anymore! 🦴

Bravecto Quantum is an extended release injectable flea and tick preventative for dogs that lasts 12 months.🪳This is great for our furry friends that aren't a fan of taking the oral preventatives! On average, it is also 10% lower in cost than 12 months of the oral preventative. Similar to the oral preventative, cost is based on weight.

Meet Willow! She is looking for a new home! 🏠🐾

Willow is a 1 year old pitbull/border collie mix and she is ready to give you all the love! 🥰 She is fully vaccinated and spayed. She is very excited about life and loves all people! She knows basic commands, such as "sit", "paw", "wait", etc. We are unsure about her feelings about other dogs, cats, and kids as she has had minimal interactions with them. She is food motivated, but not food aggressive!
