In April, a bat in the Two Rivers Public Health District(Kearney) tested positive for rabies after direct contact with people. Health officials remind us that rabies is almost always fatal once symptoms appear, but it is preventable through proper vaccination and prompt medical care after exposure. Bats are the most commonly reported source of rabies exposure in Nebraska, and even tiny bites can go unnoticed. (Picture of how small a bat bite can be in the comments)
