Hello all! This is a long read, but we have some exciting news to share.

We are very pleased to have a new and integrated communications platform that will help us better care for you and your pets. Many of you may have already experienced one of these upgrades if you called the clinic this past week and reached our new phone answering system 🙂.

It lets us:

*More effectively manage the huge volume of calls we receive daily while insuring you will never encounter a busy signal when trying to reach us.

*Free up valuable staff time needed to care for in-clinic patients by offering automated options to handle requests for non-urgent appointments, medication refills, and price inquiries.

*Substitute electronic forms for most of our office and patient forms. Paper forms will still be available for any who prefer pen and paper 🙂.

*Better utilize text and email communications.

*Offer text-to-pay and online pay for added convenience.

We appreciate your patience as we fully familiarize ourselves with this new system, and hope you are as enthusiastic as we are in trying to make veterinary care for your pets easier and as stress- and worry-free as possible. We are open to (courteous) feedback and will do our best to address any concerns you may have with this change.

A couple other announcements / updates:

After over 25 years of being open every Saturday, we began closing on some Saturdays a few years ago to gradually get to our current availability of two open Saturdays each month. Excepting a holiday or large local event (ex. Peach Festival), these open Saturdays are usually the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month. We have no plan to cut back further as we are committed to providing a Saturday option for clients who also have an 8-5 work week.

We will not always have a veterinarian available for after hours / emergency care. If you can't get hold of us or another local veterinarian for your emergency, there is the Fort Smith Emergency Clinic (479-649-3100) which is open 24hrs on weekends and holidays, and 6pm-6am on weeknights.

We appreciate you your trust in choosing us to care for your pets ❤️.

More pets go missing during this holiday. Here are some tips to prevent runaways and to help recover them if they do:

** Make sure they have some form of ID on them with at least your current phone number on it, even if they are inside pets.

** Take current, clear photos of them (whole body, face, and any unusual markings or scars)

** Have them securely confined, ideally inside a building with background noise (tv, music) loud enough to help mute the fireworks

** Be home with them if possible. If not able to be with them, consider taking the extra precaution of crating/kenneling them or putting them safely in a room without windows

** Promote plenty of exercise earlier in the daylight hours
