Two Bearded Trackers

I have a tracking dog that I am currently training to track deer that have been shot but are difficult to find due to minimal blood.

Getting to be that time of the year again! If you’re in need of help these are the trackers I would use if I didn’t have Boomer. Feel free to reach out to me if you have questions or want advice on how to proceed for your own track. I will be taking very limited number of tracks again this year and will be sticking around Clarksville/Ionia county! Best of luck!

Took Boomer out on a track Sunday afternoon. Unknown hit but had blood. We arrived at the 5-6 hour mark. Boomer was able to take us 40-50 yards passed initial last blood and we found some on a peice of grass. Appeared to be bleeding only the one side. Progressed another 3-400 yards into some big timber and look down to find pools of blood sporadically every 20-30 yards. Ended up calling at that point as we had gone 7-800 yards(?) and ran into property issues. Impress with Boomers ability to work through some grid searches areas and continue to take the track further.

We lost blood today. Thankfully Boomer was able to take us to the prize!

West Michigan Whitetail Tracking laid a mock track for Boomer and I to run tonight! We had one little hiccup but otherwise Boomer did great! Thanks again Eric!

Boomer found a great buck tonight! It was a gut shot deer this morning and tracked by the hunter for 5-600 yards. After talking with me about the situation, I then connected with a fellow tracker and we decided to have the hunter back out so we could attempt the track after dark. Boomer struggled with the initial known blood area but once we were within 100 yards of last blood, Boomer seemed to lock on a little better. Shortly after that Boomer led us right to the buck!

Track #1.

Took a track last night that was pass along from fellow tracker West Michigan Whitetail Tracking. Shot was into the shoulder and had 5-6 inches of pe*******on. Boomer did well on 4-500 of confirm blood and got to an area where the deer double backed and went out the same trail it came in on. Area had been grid searched and was to difficult for Boomer to figure out.

Track #2.

Took a track this morning that was posted to the Michigan Deer Tracking Network. Shot hit a twig near the deer and hit was unknown. We picked the track up 5-600 yards into the hit site. Boomer did well again for 2-300 yards but we came to a mud hole and Boomer began to struggle and with the added rain we ended up calling it quits. Hunter pulled the camera card and it appears the deer was hit on the leg.

Learned a lot these past two tracks. Hopefully get Boomer on a dead deer in the next run!
