This unusual scene isn't related to Dachshunds, but it's a breathtaking spectacle that sends my dogs into sheer delight. The goats seem perfectly content, but that little rabbit has no notion that my dogs are natural hunters, and in an uncontrolled setting, it's unlikely the rabbit would have deliberately chosen one of my goats as a companion. What a captivating pair, these two are, an embodiment of unlikely friendship that I'm thoroughly enthralled by. Bun Bun appeared last Fall, lingering around our hay shed, garage, and beneath our vehicles and boats. This endearing creature permits us to draw near and gently touch it, yet sets a firm boundary at being picked up. It eats, sleeps, and roams with my small goat herd, particularly fond of this one goat's company. Together, they bask in the sun's warmth on the picnic table, and Bun Bun loves to leap onto its goat companion's back. The goat playfully responds by tossing its head toward the bunny, much like the other goats do when interacting. I firmly believe there's a valuable lesson hidden within this heartwarming bond.
