🌾 Straw Needed! 🌾

As temperatures start to drop this weekend, we’re preparing to help local families and pets stay warm. Each year, CARES tries to offer free straw to our community for outdoor animals — but right now, our supply is completely out.

If anyone is willing to donate a few bales of straw, we would be so grateful! Every little bit helps, and together we can make sure no animal is left out in the cold. 🐶🐱💛

Donations can be dropped off at CARES Animal Shelter during our regular hours, or even after hours under our carport, so we can keep everything dry and ready for distribution.

Let’s come together as a community once again to help keep our Delta pets safe and warm this winter! 💙

Animal Control just picked up this young female dog wearing a big red collar. She has an injured back leg and is clearly in pain, yet she’s still been nothing but sweet and gentle with everyone. ❤️

We’re hoping someone recognizes her — she’s friendly and seems like she could belong to someone.

🚨 Important Reminder for Our Community 🚨

We’re currently looking for an adult male dog who was dumped at our shelter during the night. Unfortunately, he bolted before we could reach him — and we are deeply worried for his safety.

Please remember: it is illegal to abandon or dump animals, and doing so—especially after hours—puts them in serious danger. Our shelter sits close to a busy highway, and a scared, confused dog can easily run into traffic or get lost trying to find their way home.

We understand that sometimes people feel they have no other options. But there are safe, legal, and compassionate ways to get help for an animal in need:

We want to help — but please, don’t leave an animal here overnight. It could cost them their life. 💔

💔 EMERGENCY FOSTER NEEDED 💔

This tiny sweetheart is out of options — and she needs someone with a big heart to step in today. 🐾 She’s just a baby who wants to curl up somewhere safe, to be held, loved, and cared for until she finds her forever home.

We’re completely out of space at the shelter, and it’s extremely important that we find her a place to go today. Even a short-term foster could completely change her story and give her the safety she deserves.

💛 Champ’s Next Chapter 💛

Today was a really special day for me — and for all of us at CARES. Our sweet boy Champ finally left the shelter. He’s going to a foster home, but deep down I think we all know this one’s going to turn into forever. 💛

I’ve spent so many days with Champ by my side. He’s been my office buddy, my helper, and my daily dose of comfort when the work got heavy. To see him walk out those doors — not as a shelter dog, but as part of a family — was a moment I’ll never forget. 🥹🐾

He already had a room, toys, and a warm bed waiting on him when he arrived… exactly what he’s always deserved.

We love you so much, Champ. You’ll always have a piece of my heart — and a whole fan club cheering you on from CARES. 💛
