Many of you know I postponed starting my day time class to keep an extra close eye on our older German shepherd Archer. A couple of weeks ago we discovered a mass on his spleen that was swelling but still contained, likely caused by hemangiosarcoma. He is responding well to treatments, and is now looking and feeling completely like himself again.

That being said, I have on the books Tuesdays 1-2pm starting this upcoming 3/17. That class will change locations each week and the total cost is $140. It has enough students to start but can handle a couple more.

Then I have interest in either Mondays or Fridays day time hours. If that interests you comment below, and I’ll get a roster started- will start when minimum of 4 students is reached.

It may be cold today, but spring is around the corner. It’s time to plan for classes! This year classes will be traveling, so you do need to be on the roster to know where your group will be meeting each week.

MANNERS 101 - 5 weeks- total cost $140

Tuesdays 1-2pm aiming for March 10 start

OR Thursdays 6-7pm aiming for March 12 start

This course covers the basics of polite greetings, leash walking, sits, downs, stays, manners at doorways, social skills, and self control around distractions and food. You attend with your dog and learn how to be their teacher. Multiple family dogs can attend, but each dog needs a handler. Children are welcome to attend. Cost is per dog, unlimited family members may audit. If you miss a week, you are welcome to drop into future sessions for a make up.

Here's a snippet from our current Manners 101 class. How our classes work is typically an instructor explaining how to teach a skill, each student teaches their own dog, and then we create exercises to put the new skills into practice. Here is a door manners exercise to practice the dogs backing up to a respectful distance and waiting for a release to come through the doorway.

We made the paper! Several of my students came out and enjoyed the agility equipment I brought to Pitts Park last Saturday. We're having lots of fun in our sports sampler class going on now as well.

Next upcoming class is a Manners 101 mixed age Tuesdays 10-11am starting Sept 9th. 5 weeks- $140 one time fee

Come see us tomorrow at Pitts Park for Dog Days of Summer! We'll haul out my agility a-frame and weave poles, and we'll throw some frisbees too. Event is free, but you're welcome to donate to "Friends of SAR 501c" while you're there. We'll be set up together, and you can meet certified K9 Jones and up and coming wilderness search and rescue dog Corvus. It'll be a fun time 9am-1pm.

GROUP CLASSES START THE 12TH AND 14TH!

NEW! Morning Exorcise:
This group is for high energy and/or reactive dogs who need to get their demons out first thing in the morning. It will be a traveling class where we meet in a different location each week and practice moving under control in public, passing other dogs, and avoiding distractions. Difficult dogs of all sizes and over a year old are welcome. Often will be closer to Sautee/Helen. Class limited to 5 students for one on one help with reactive dogs. 5 weeks - $165 Starts 8/12
Tuesdays 9-10am

Manners 101:
Our most popular class for the basics- leash walking, sit, down, stay, come when called, door manners, manners greeting people, leave it, self control around food and other dogs. This class is taught at our indoor shop location in Clarkesville less than 1 mile from Ingles! 5 weeks $140 Starts 8/12 or 8/14
Puppy Manners (under 8 months) Tuesdays 11am-12pm
Mixed Age Tuesdays 12pm-1pm
Mixed Age Tuesdays 7-8pm
Mixed Age Thursdays 1-2pm

AKC STAR Puppy:
Same course material as our Manners 101, but stretched to 6 weeks to give time for weekly playtime and extra socialization. 6 week session- $165
Tuesdays 6-7pm starting August 19th

NEW! Sports Sampler:
New class for dogs who are mentally and physically busy. We'll introduce the foundation of sports like agility, nosework, tricks, and frisbee to find what your dog loves! Excellent for building your dog's personal confidence and teamwork with you. No obedience required. This is good for active dogs and people, but it's also a great option if your dog needs a lot to do while you need low impact activities for yourself. Beginner level will be held inside at the shop location near Ingles in Clarkesville. 5 weeks $140 Starts 8/14
(Small Dogs) Thursdays 10-11am
(Large Dogs) Thursdays 11am-12pm
