This ❤️🩹 the happy times are happy but the hard times sure are hard. Breeding is not for everyone but if nobody did it intentionally, it would be chaos out there. RIP Green 💚 Cerberus Farms LLC you have our condolences.
Breeding dogs the responsible way is not easy, and no one seems to talk about the hard stuff. You put your blood, sweat, and tears into everything you do for them. From tracing heat cycles to making sure you're keeping everyone separate till the perfect day. Vet runs for health tests, check-ups, and vaccines. Having a proper setup so no unplanned litters happen. Altering older dogs so they don't have a litter too old, and making sure to keep females separated. It's the late nights, middle-of-the-night check-ups, daily weights, early morning checks. Being there, watching, helping when they're born, and that strong connection with your dams. Planning years ahead, making sure the whelping area is always clean and dry, extra protein for mom. The hardest part of all is when you have a short period of time and sometimes tragedy happens. The thing no one wants to talk about. We lost a pup last night, little Green, between the hours of 7 pm and 11 pm. We were inside having a late dinner, getting kids' cuddles, and getting late to bed. 11 pm came, and we ran out to do a puppy check. It appeared that Phoenix had lain on Green, and no one heard the whimpers. 😭. This happens with first-time moms sometimes; the inexperienced ones. I've been watching her closely to make sure this doesn't happen, even with the proper whelping area with built-in pig rails. In the last 7 years, this is only my second puppy to lose. The pain is so real, so strong; they are so close to you, and you were there from the first breath. RIP little green! You will be remembered forever💚💚💚
