The PWD Foundation is reaching out to share the 2025 Portuguese Water Dog Health Foundation - Health Survey, an important initiative that helps our breed collect valuable health information.
The goal of the health survey is to help us better understand the current health status of PWDs and to identify any emerging concerns within the breed. The insights you share will guide important efforts to protect and improve the health of our dogs for generations to come.
The survey takes about 10 minutes.
Whether your PWD is young or old, healthy or living with health concerns, or has already passed away, every response matters. The more information we gather, the stronger our understanding becomes.
To date, they have gathered information on over 2,800 dogs and we would like to help increase that number.
If you visit the PWD Foundation’s page, you’ll see some of the findings so far — including the sobering statistic that cancer remains the number one killer of all dogs, including our breed. Sadly, this holds true for every dog, regardless of breed or mix, rescued or purchased.
