September is National Service Dog Month! ❤️🐕‍🦺

We're celebrating these incredible working dogs who change lives every day by helping people with disabilities live more independently.

Their skills are amazing—from picking up a dropped phone to handing a credit card to a cashier. Some can even wake a person from a nightmare or alert their deaf owner to a ringing doorbell. They truly are everyday heroes.

This is Millie and she's helping us kick off Happy Cat Month!

She is on a wellness plan which includes all her vaccine boosters and her upcoming spay.

Playing with her before her vaccination really helped to ease her anxiety.

Dogs and Raisins DO NOT MIX!☠🚫

Brutus ate some toast with raisins and started vomiting. We gave him activated charcoal and did bloodwork. Brutus was such a good boy and drank the charcoal when it was offered to him! 🌟🌟🌟

He'll need a follow-up appointment in a couple of weeks for more blood work to check his kidney function.

While giving activated charcoal is very messy, it's a crucial step in these cases.

Raisins Are Toxic To Dogs
Grapes from which raisins are made, contain a substance called tartaric acid that can cause kidney damage in dogs.

Symptoms of Raisin Toxicity in Dogs:
Vomiting, Diarrhea, Lethargy, Abdominal pain, Increased thirst, Decreased urination, and Kidney failure

Treatment:
If your dog has eaten raisins, it is important to seek veterinary attention immediately.

Treatment may include:
Inducing vomiting, giving activated charcoal, intravenous fluids, and kidney dialysis (in severe cases).

Prevention:
To prevent raisin poisoning in dogs, keep grapes and raisins out of their reach. Avoid giving grapes or raisins as treats or in dog food.
