🐎 ꜱᴇʀʜᴀ ꜱᴘᴏᴏᴋᴛᴀᴄᴜʟᴀʀ ꜱʜᴏᴡ 🍂

Phoebe and I decided to tag along with Magnolia Performance Horses to NC for our second reining show together, and it did not disappoint!

Not only could I see that our training has definitely started to come together, but we achieved our personal highest score so far with a 67.5! It could have been a 69.5, but I made a rider error and got a cone penalty (sorry Pheebs and Shelby 🥲)

Learning a completely new discipline has been challenging, but I’m so grateful to have a wonderful team and the best mare to learn on.

Ginger came for a groundwork boot camp and to work on some behavioral issues her owner was dealing with. She would randomly charge and strike out at people when working on the ground, especially if she felt like any pressure was being put on her. Even when she wasn’t “misbehaving”, she frequently seemed irritated and never fully relaxed.

After consistent work and thankfully her owner trusting us enough to listen to our advice to have her examined by our dentist and vet, she seems to be on the right track!

Ginger now has a good groundwork foundation with nice body control, is able to self trailer load, and the biggest bonus, is actually able to relax and seem happy even while working. Sometimes it takes a team of people… I’m just glad I could be apart of it!

Cherokee is a 5 year old mare from Twin Peaks, CA here to be gentled and overall learn how to be a safe, civilized citizen of society. Her first time being tied was pretty uneventful. Typically once they know how to give to halter pressure and yield their hindquarters, tying goes pretty smoothly!

Well… I wasn’t planning on getting any projects for a while but meet tag number 9060, a 3 year old palomino mare from Little Owyhee, Nevada. When I saw this mare on the IA and discovered she was from Little Owyhee (where my first mustang, Moana is from) I instantly fell in love with her. I really liked the idea of potentially trying for the Mustang Champions Mustang Classic show so add in a little peer pressure and some friends helping to make it happen and it all worked out to get this little mare here almost two weeks ago. So far she has been a joy to work with and I’m really curious to see how she develops. Any fun / cute pony name suggestions welcomed! 💛

Moana, my first mustang that I got in 2018 🦋

For those that are newer, Moana was the one who started my mustang journey. I couldn’t have asked for a better first mustang as she gave me a lot of grace in learning the gentling process. She was also the first horse I ever started under saddle myself. After competing in the 2018 GA TIP challenge and later starting her under saddle, I sold her in 2021. Because of her owner getting ready for college, I brought her back home last year. Between my health and then figuring each other out again, we just really started to get into a regular work schedule… I think standing on the pedestal is still one of her favorite things 🩵

I came across this old but good video the other day of teaching Parker to self bridle. I like to teach all of my horses this way so that putting on the bridle is easy and calm. I honestly forget until working with new horses that haltering and bridling can be a big issue for many! A few minutes of practice each time you work with them can make a big difference… why not help them? I guarantee it will save you time in the long run! 🫶🏼

This boy is one of my personal horses and I will be picky about where he goes. Looking for the perfect fit for a special boy!

GIDEON 🖤 is a titled 7 year old mustang gelding standing at 15hh from Fifteenmile, Wyoming. Not only does he have a nice and athletic build, but he is flashy enough to stand out wherever you go. He also has that cute, goofy gelding personality to boot (will “smile” for cookies 🍪).

Gideon easily rides W/T/C and understands leg cues, but is still learning when it comes to collection. He has trail ridden, done obstacles, and been started over small cross rails. While he doesn’t offer any funny business, he is still a bit green and sometimes needs some support from his rider.

Gideon is an easy keeper. He is barefoot, goes out in a mixed herd, and doesn’t have any allergies. He stands tied, is good for vet/farrier, self loads in the trailer, and has great ground manners.
