We are deeply honored to receive a transformational gift of $100,000 from Don Klekamp, made in loving memory of his late wife, Marianne, and their beloved Westie, Lily. Don’s generosity will help families facing financial hardship access critical veterinary care, care that often means the difference between keeping a beloved pet or losing them.

This gift reflects Don’s heartfelt desire to honor Marianne’s passions and ensure pets and their people stay together, even in the toughest times. “It brings me great joy to give back,” Don says, and his generosity will impact countless pets and families throughout our community.

Lucy has been part of her family for a decade, growing up side-by-side with her two “sisters” as the third girl in the house. When she developed a painful eye condition, her family was heartbroken. Unsure how they could afford the care she needed, her mom began thinking about what she could sell just to get Lucy seen by a vet.

That moment of desperation led them to Pets In Need. Our team confirmed that Lucy’s condition was serious and required eye removal. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we were able to provide the surgery and donated medications that helped Lucy heal and helped her family breathe easier.

“We’re beyond thankful,” her mom said. “She’s in the best spirits now.”

Today, Lucy is back to her happy, playful self and living pain-free and still bringing joy to the family who adores her.

Stories like Lucy’s are at the heart of our mission. Access to veterinary care doesn’t just improve lives, it protects the bond between people and the pets they love 🫶🏼

🚨 Veterinarians Needed: Help Us Keep Pets and People Together 🐾

At Pets In Need (PIN), we believe that no pet should lose their home, or their life, because their family can’t afford veterinary care.

Veterinary costs, like everything else, keep rising. For low, no, and limited-income pet owners and for people facing housing instability, disability, or crisis access to care is increasingly out of reach. Yet the bond between people and their pets has never been more important.

Without access to care, that bond is at risk. Every day, we see more pets surrendered, abandoned, or even euthanized unnecessarily because their families have no options. And the need is growing. So is our waiting list.

We need more veterinary support - now.
Are you a veterinarian who could give a few hours, a half day, or even a few days a month? Your time could truly change lives.

You’d be joining a passionate, mission-driven team led by Dr. Colleen Black, who has dedicated nearly a decade to keeping pets healthy and families whole at PIN. Clinic hours are 10am to 4pm, Monday – Friday. Together, we can ensure that beloved pets get the care they need so they can stay with the people who love and need them most.
