“How do I become a K-9 Handler?”

It’s a question many officers ask — and for good reason. The role of a K-9 handler goes beyond standard duty. It’s about forming a powerful bond built on trust, discipline, and instinct. It’s about leading with purpose and working in sync with a highly trained canine partner.

To help guide you on this path, we’ve developed a hands-on introductory course designed to teach the fundamentals of K-9 handling. Participants will engage in real-world scenarios that simulate the daily duties of a handler, including detection and tracking exercises.

This immersive training will cover:

•Building and channeling canine drive

•Understanding the role of a backup officer in K-9 operations

•Effective teamwork between handler and support officers during tracks and detection calls

Whether you're exploring the possibility of joining a K-9 unit or simply want to better support one in the field, this course will provide a solid foundation in the skills and mindset required to work alongside a K-9 team.
