CANTER Chicago CANTER Chicago is your trusted resource for retiring racehorses in the greater Chicago area. This service is provided free to racing trainers and owners.

Through our website and social media channels, CANTER Chicago provides the means for the public to view retiring racehorses that are located at Hawthorne Race Course and Arlington Park. CANTER is a volunteer-run organization, with all donations directly benefiting the horses. CANTER Chicago volunteers are OTTB advocates. We believe in the tremendous heart, versatility, spirit and athleticism of th

oroughbreds. We work closely with the Chicago-area racing and equestrian communities to promote the responsible retirement, retraining, rehabilitation and rehoming of these beautiful animals. We believe – and work towards – finding a home for every horse. We love seeing CANTER alumni excelling in new careers such as jumping, eventing, cross country, polo, dressage and pleasure riding. With a Chicago volunteer network over a dozen strong, we are always looking for others who share our passion for responsible racehorse retirement.
