The baby novice horse trials were a smashing success! Very small entry but those who came had a lot of fun. Such a brilliant opportunity for the child who wants to try eventing in a low key atmosphere where failure is barely an option because we will HELP that person and let them practice if need be. . . . or the green horse who just needs a positive experience over nice easy jumps. CONGRATULATIONS to Kelsey Lasher and Belle of the Ball for their overall win! Morgan Kimbrough and Tempest, 2nd place, Christi Meek and Maxwell in 3rd, Maddie Kidd riding Teddy and Confetti taking 4th and 5th and Ace from New Meadow Farm in 6th. Thanks to New Meadow Farm and summer camp and to Christi Meek for all their support over the years. Special thanks to Miss Morgan Kimbrough for laying out the dressage ring and to Morgan, Christi and Maddie for helping to clear jumps and set the stadium course. Judge Liz Morgan did a great job, providing LOTS of feedback and positive energy to all riders. I know it is hot but it just baffles me that people don't want to take advantage of this great event! Well, my love to all of you who came! Hope you had fun!

Elk Run Stables will be hosting a beginner baby novice horse trials on Tuesday, July 23rd. It is usually a small number of horses. Post entries are fine or you can let me know you are coming at [email protected] and I will give you an approximate dressage time. We will start around 9 w/dressage. We will use Beginner Novice test B for the canter test:

or you can do the USDF Introductory Level Test A or B for the walk/trot test:

http://www.usdf.org/docs/tests/dressage/introb.pdf There will be a 2'3" ish stadium course and also an easier, crossrails and small verticals course. The cross-country course is hilly but the jumps are inviting and easy. Hardest jumps are tires and a 2' foot coop. There will be some higher options for those who are feeling adventurous.
