Meet Havana!
Havana is a 6 month old super mutt that we adopted on August 13, 2026 from Humane Rescue Alliance
In NW DC.
This sweet girl had a rough start. She was found on the streets of Birmingham, AL then transfered up to the Humane Rescue Alliance due to the AL shelter being over capacity. We didn't find any of this out until we were reviewing medical history during the active adoption process and it broke our hearts! There's no way you can meet Havana and not love Havana. She is super sweet, loving, and incredibly gentle. Giving gentle hugs with her long arms is her favorite. We couldn't figure out any reason for this beautiful, sweet, gentle, 6 month old puppy to still be without a home - besides she was waiting for us.
She has Leia's eyes and Deliah's coat texture. She is highly food motivated and LOVE enrichment. More than her loving enrichment, she needs it! This girl is HIGH ENERGY and a freaking genius! Now that she is feeling safe and letting her puppy out - this girl gets WILD. She likes to have the zoomies in the house and launch on and off the couch - usually where one of us are sitting using our lap, face, head, arm, whatever she finds first as the launch pad 😅 She's a soccer fan and already giving Air Bud a run for his money. She has started exploring water and we hope to have her swimming soon! She actively seeks out our kiddos every morning to make sure they are accounted for and comforts us when we are hurt or sad.
To anyone new here, we lost our 13 & 13.5 year old dogs, Deliah and Leia, last September & October and our hearts are very much still broken. The only reason we started looking for another dog is because our children were starting to consistently ask about getting another dog and agreed to take on a lot of the responsibilities. Havana has helped our hearts recover in ways I didn't think were possible. Leia & Deliah led us to her. Havana was meant to be a part of our family and we are so incredibly thankful to have found her.
