Ezzy continues to make good progress. His owner is putting in the time and their skills together are dramatic. His reactivity is much improved and his ability to stay focused amid distractions are noticeably better. Our goals are being reached as he passes milestone after milestone. He is not the same dog at all

Zepplin spent a few days with us, making friends and having an adventure. His training is still solid for a Golden Doodle just under 2 years. Here is is with Ziggy, who is also doing well, and my KoKo, who is always calm and steady

Ziggy, a white poodle I trained, my white boxer KoKo, and Zepplin, a golden doodle I trained. All are doing great. Ziggy and her owner have put in the work and it shows. Zepplin is a lot of dog but his fundamentals are still on point, and his owners still work him daily. Koko is older now and very calm, but still going strong!

Ziggy used to run the other way when you called her. It was all a big game, and catching Ziggy was a chore. Now her recall is flawless, consistent. Emilia calls, Ziggy comes, every time. Kudos to Emilia for putting in the work in practicing every day, and meeting regularly for training sessions to improve. Ziggy actually has an auto sit, and we will perfect that. But recall was very important to Emilia, and we have solved that for her. Ziggy also pulled horribly at the leash, and that has changed too. Ziggy went from a dog that did whatever she pleased to a well behaved pleasure to walk princess. Again, Emilia has put time and effort into practicing her skills, even the way she interacts with Ziggy, and it has paid off. Ziggy knows when it’s time to work and what her job is. Her commands are consistent and she enjoys her role. Ziggy also knows when it is time to play, and plays with enthusiasm. Most importantly, the bond between these two is stronger and closer than ever, and they are both enjoying their walks more as a result. A success story!

Normally this is a challenge, a confidence building exercise, that I teach to dogs I am training. But KoKo is so over it that she was mostly just bored : )

Meet Kira, an 8 month old puppy with no training. Kira was brought to me with no leash manners and a puppies enthusiasm, but trusting and friendly and basically a champion ready to learn. Her first lesson was simple enough, bonding, a heel, wait, sit, and focus, which she picked up quickly. Her immaturity and lack of impulse control make her a potential problem if left unchecked, but her friendly disposition and eagerness to accept her lessons made her a snap to train. The difference one lesson made was dramatic. I expect great things from this little dynamo!

Here is Ezzy on his first trip outside with me. Our first few sessions were spent inside bonding and getting used to a leash. He was so shy that I took extra time trust building with him before doing any real work. He is severely fear reactive with dogs and flat terrified of strangers. Ezzy had zero socialization skills and no idea what to do on leash. He is a rescue and apparently has had to fend for himself for years. Leadership for him is a role he has had to be taught slowly and consistently. But he has made great progress and as his trust grows, his learning grows quickly

Ezzy is the most shy and unsocialized dog I’ve ever trained. He was terrified of everything and had no idea how to relate to another dog. His fear reactivity is severe, but he today became acquainted with KoKo successfully without a reaction. Today he additionally learned to down consistently, which led to a recall, which led to recall into a heel, which he accomplished in minutes. This video is taken within 10 minutes of him learning to down. The key to bonding with him was patience, and consistency was the key to reducing his anxiety. Once a foundation was laid, training took off at an astonishing pace. He learns and retains almost immediately. Can’t wait to see how much farther he can go!
