Does your dog or cat have a microchip? We provide microchip services. Have you moved or changed your phone number? A reminder to update and keep your contact information current in the microchip database.

A microchip is your pet's permanent, unique ID, registered and linked to your contact information. If your pet goes missing and is found, rescues, veterinary clinics, and shelters have microchip scanners that can quickly read the ID number, allowing the microchip company to contact you and help recover your lost pet.

We use the HomeAgain microchip which includes permanent enrollment in and updates to their National Pet Recovery Database. If you change your address or phone number, remember to log in to your account and update your contact information in the national database, at no cost.

Bering Sea Animal Clinic microchip services include placing a HomeAgain microchip, registering the ID number in the database, creating an account for you, sending an email with your account information, and including a paid subscription for the first year. Cost is $75.

Dr. Bob performing a TPLO with Marie’s assistance on a large breed dog. Over the past 25 years, he has successfully performed this procedure and treated many dogs with knee injuries.

A TPLO (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy) is an advanced orthopedic surgical procedure for repairing a torn cranial cruciate ligament (equivalent to the ACL) in dogs. Dogs with a torn CCL often exhibit signs of limping, difficulty standing, and reluctance to bear weight on the affected leg.

A TPLO is usually performed on medium- to large-sized active dogs with knee ligament ruptures and is suitable for many dogs. Most dogs can successfully return to an active lifestyle long-term after restrictive activity, bone healing, muscle rebuilding, and a closely monitored and scheduled rehabilitation plan.

Dr. Bob places metal plates and screws to secure and stabilize the knee during his surgical procedure and X-Rays the knee before and after to calculate precise measurements and placement needed for the surgery.

Why do we often recommend doing blood work on our patients annually and before major surgeries and dental cleanings?

Blood work can establish a baseline on our healthy patients, monitors healthy organ function, surgical safety, and provides early detection of silent life threatening diseases early before symptoms appear.

In senior dogs and cats, blood work acts as a "silent detective," uncovering internal health changes that physical exams alone cannot detect. Because pets instinctively hide signs of illness, routine testing is the primary tool for early diagnosis and effective management of age-related conditions.

Blood work usually runs about $275-$375, depending upon the animal and type of blood tests. Contact us for more information.
