Last week Chillicothe Police Department Animal Control Officer Nicholas Leadbetter attended the 2026 Missouri Animal Control Association Conference, bringing back new ideas, resources, and training to better serve our community!
The conference covered everything from Missouri animal welfare laws and Department of Agriculture regulations to recognizing animal abuse and neglect, the connection between animal abuse and domestic violence, proper animal nutrition, and managing wildlife within city limits.
One of the highlights was learning new techniques for humanely capturing animals, especially those dogs and cats who have decided they have absolutely no interest in being caught! 🐕🐈💨
The conference also provided a great opportunity to network with animal control officers from across Missouri, sharing what works, what doesn't, and ways we can all improve.
We are proud of Nicholas and the work he does.
