Although our family vacation was canceled due to Molly’s recent medical scare, we’re still taking a much needed break. Boarding in our home is very convenient for us but we definitely need this time to recoup and for Molly to heal. We will see you all again on July 29th! 🐾

As you all know, our dogs are our world. Yesterday, I noticed some red marks on Molly’s belly but they looked different from hot spots - more like bruises. I gave her a bath and when blow drying her, I noticed the red marks were all over her body. She was still eating, drinking, and being her normal fetch-obsessed self so we weren’t super concerned at first. After much googling, we decided to take her to an emergency vet. They did blood work and found her platelets extremely low. She’s been diagnosed with IMTP - her immune system is attacking and destroying platelets. We ruled out ways this could have been brought on (tick bite or reaction to antibiotics) and it likely was genetic.

Last night she was checked in for 48 hour monitoring at an overnight vet. She had her first round of chemo and is taking to the treatment well. The doctor noticed bruising mainly on her lower back and hind legs - she fears thoracic internal bleeding and will be keeping an eye on her abdomen and behavior.

Although it feels like our world has stopped, we are still caring for our two other dogs + 3 boarding dogs. We are trying our best to hold it together. The hardest part was leaving the house with Molly but not coming back with her. The dogs can all sense something is wrong. Please keep Molly in your thoughts.

This is all comes with a massive vet bill but you know we will do anything for our fur children. If anyone wishes to help, you can Venmo/CashApp/PayPal .
