Chicago French Bulldog Rescue Chicago French Bulldog Rescue (CFBR) was launched to protect French Bulldogs from neglect, abuse, loss of family and theft.

We rescue them from animal shelters and puppy mills. We help families and individuals that can no longer care for their Frenchies. A rescue that helps French Bulldogs in need- all of our foster dogs stay in foster homes and not in a shelter.

As a foster, you are the first sign that they’re safe now🫶🏻 It’s not always easy, but it is more rewarding than you could imagine-and- we’re here to help you every step of the way with resources & support. You will always be set up for success making sure the pup is a good fit before they’re placed with you, & given the essentials to get you started!

Flat-faced breeds like Frenchies, Pugs, and Bulldogs need extra care after anesthesia. From early calming meds to extended oxygen therapy and careful monitoring, every step helps reduce complications and ensures a smoother recovery—even after routine procedures.

Because their airways are naturally narrower, swelling, stress, or even mild sedation can make breathing harder. 🫁 After surgery, they require longer monitoring, oxygen support, and readiness to re-intubate if needed. Anesthesia is never “routine” for these dogs—it’s a carefully managed process from start to finish. 💙🐾

This is why surgery days for our rescue dogs always come with a high degree of monitoring and extended recoveries!

🐾 Louie Update 🐾

Not much news to share just yet — Louie is still at the veterinary hospital while we wait for his lab results to come back. His care team wants to keep him there until they have all the information they need to move forward.

The good news? He’s eating well, drinking, and is now hydrated. And, true to what we’ve already learned about him… he’s as sweet as can be. 💕

We’ll share more as soon as we know. Thank you for all the love, shares, and donations helping us give Louie the best chance possible. ❤️

Our rescue was founded in 2008 to help French Bulldogs in need. All of our dogs stay in private foster homes. We do not have a facility or shelter and almost entirely run by volunteers. Every dollar of your donation goes directly towards the rescue, veterinarian bills and the overall care of our dogs.
